Step Up: High Water, the new show based on the popular movie franchise, will premiere on Jan. 31, EW revealed along with the exclusive first trailer below. And, in addition to some killer moves, the clip features all the must-have lines for the Step Up franchise: “I just wanted to dance,” “You ain’t from these streets,” “Haven’t you ever wanted something so much that you had to go for it no matter what it took?” and, of course, “Five, six, seven, eight!”
The 10-episode drama revolves around a group of students at High Water, a prestigious contemporary performing arts school in Atlanta. Singer Ne-Yo stars as “age Odom, the founder of the school, while Glee‘s Naya Rivera plays Collette, a former dancer turned administrator “whose passion for her students is only matched by her history with Sage and secrets of her own,” according to YouTube.
Original Step Up stars Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum join the 2006 film’s producers Adam Shankman, Jennifer Gibgot, and Meredith Milton, to produce the series. Make It Or Break It‘s Holly Sorensen serves as creator, executive producer, and showrunner.
The series will also feature original music.
