Despite how recently we got our fix, fans are desperate for news of a fourth season and the confirmed return of our favourites Otis, Maeve, Eric, Ola and Aimee and their many exploits.

This season, the show explored dating with a disability, later-in-life-pregnancy, what it means to be non-binary and how teenagers can express themselves sexually in a myriad of ways, and that's barely scratching the surface.

With the third season receiving widespread praise and acclaim, and being frantically binged by so many, it’s likely a fourth season will be announced shortly.

However, star of the show, Asa Butterfield, who plays Otis Millburn, is already dropping hints at what might be to come for the much-loved world of Moordale and its inhabitants.

Sex Education-themed Christmas movie anyone?

Netflix

“[I want a] Christmas movie! Sex Education-themed," Asa told Cosmopolitan UK, making up for the fact that he cannot confirm another season yet.

“We don’t know [whether there will be more]. It’s out of our hands at this point. I wish I could tell you more, I genuinely don’t know,” the 24-year-old actor shared.

"I’d love to do a fourth season, because we have so much fun on this show. At the same time we’ve been doing it for three years now, and I’d be happy saying goodbye to these characters… We’ll have to see."

"Don’t worry, it’s alright, we’re all a mess!"

Netflix

Sex Education first aired in January 2019, meaning the early-20s actors are now approaching their mid and late-20s, making it understandable that Asa might be happy to say goodbye and stop portraying a teenager.

However, fans of the show are definitely not ready to say goodbye to the feel-good series, which brings such a fresh take to teenage sexuality.

“I hope that when people turn on Sex Education they feel like they’re looking at their friends so that’s what I hope people will take away from it. Don’t worry, it’s alright, we’re all a mess!" Ncuti Gatwa, who plays Eric on the show, told WHO.

"I think Sex Education is all about an authentic connection."

Netflix

"I think Sex Education is all about an authentic connection so I think that’s why, when you watch it, you do feel connected and I think that’s lovely,” Aimee Lou Wood, who portrays Aimee on the show, also explained.

“I think it really addresses shame and what shame can do and that’s such an important thing to dissect.”

We’re crossing all our fingers and toes that this beautiful show can live on!
