Returning faces include Asa Butterfield as the delightfully awkward Otis Butterfield, Connor Swindells as reformed bully Adam Groff, Emma Mackey as the gruff Maeve Wiley, Patricia Alliison as Ola Nyman, Aimee Lou Wood as Aimee Gibbs, Tanya Reynolds as Lily Iglehart, and Alistair Petrie as Mr Groff, who sneaks in at the very end of the trailer.
Noticeably missing from the video are Gillian Anderson as Otis’s mother, Jean, and his best friend, Eric, played by Ncuti Gatwa.
However, both are still slated to return.
We also vaguely know what the cast will be up to, given in a description dropped by Netflix.
“It’s a new year, Otis is having casual sex, Eric and Adam are official, and Jean has a baby on the way. Meanwhile, new head teacher Hope tries to return Moordale to a pillar of excellence, Aimee discovers feminism, Jackson gets a crush and a lost voicemail still looms. Prepare for commitment animals, alien phenomena, vulva cupcakes, and much more of Madam Groff,” it read.
Of course, the most important question on everyone’s mind concerns the future of Otis and Maeve – will they, or won’t they, or will they both keep failing to communicate until the end of time?
The new season will premiere on September 17, which doesn’t feel all that far away considering filming took place last September.
The cast dropped a series of behind-the-scenes shots on Instagram, only building to our excitement for what might await us in this new season.
Whatever is to come, we can’t wait to return to Moordale next month!
