Scott and Sofia's split came after Scott sought treatment at a rehab facility in Colorado so that he could "work on his issues."
“They’re taking a break right now so Scott can just focus on the most important things in his life – his health and his kids. Scott is working on his issues. Sofia is hanging out with friends. It was Sofia’s choice to take a break,” a source told WHO.
Since the break up, Scott has been spending more time with his three kids Mason, 10, Penelope, seven and Reign, five, as well as with his famous ex.
Shortly after he left rehab, Scott, Kourtney and the kids enjoyed a trip away to the Amangiri resort in Lake Powell, Utah.
“Kourtney knows how to handle Scott, and he is always in a better headspace when he gets to spend time with his kids,” an insider told E! News of their three-day trip to the desert.
“She has really been there for him since his rehab exit and has had a lot of sympathy towards him.”
Kourtney shared a sweet tribute to Scott on US Father's Day on her Instagram account with a snap of the family-of-five.
"Happy Father’s Day, thankful for you and these three special ones," she captioned the image.
Whilst Scott and Courtney are not officially in a romantic relationship, a source told Us Weekly that there will always be a close bond between them.
“Kourtney has always been hesitant about getting back together with Scott or letting him in, in a romantic sense,” the source explained.
“Kourtney wants the best for Scott and knows they’ve been through the wringer together. She lets him in – but at an arm’s length ... first love is not something you just wash away.”
