The actor – who is in a relationship with British pop star Lily Allen – said, as with many other shows, production had been paused due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Last week, David revealed he had travelled from his New York home to the UK to spend time with Lily after the Stranger Things set in Atlanta was shut down.
'I got an email from the producers saying we're shutting down for a couple of weeks.
'We don't know what any of this means. My hope is we get it up and running as soon as possible but I also suggested to Lily that season four should be animated.
Adding: 'My publisher also sent me an email saying Black Widow had been postponed and I think I replied "shocker." Wouldn't it be fun if we all could just stream it but that's above my pay grade.'
Stranger Things centres around the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana in the 1980s; with season one focusing on the disappearance of a young boy, the entailing investigation and the supernatural events that occur in the town.
