As she accepted her third win of the night for the 10-minute version of All Too Well, Miss Swift said: “I know with every second of this moment that we wouldn’t have been able to make this short film if it weren’t for you, the fans.
“Because I wouldn’t be able to re-record my albums if it weren’t for you. You embolden me to do that.
"I had sort of made up my mind that if you were going to be this generous and give us this, I thought it might be a fun moment to tell you that my brand new album comes out October 21. And I will tell you more at midnight.”
Spoiler Alert: Her new album is called Midnights. Let the Easter Egg hunt begin.
The title is the only confirmed Easter Egg so far. But that hasn't stopped the Swifties from sleuthing and their latest theory surrounds Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.
First, fans analysed the fact that the Blank Space singer announced the new album at the VMAs, which was the awards show where Kanye (now Ye) infamously crashed the stage during her acceptance speech for the Best Female Video Award to claim that Beyoncé should have won.
That incident occurred 13 years ago in 2009. 13 also just happens to be Taylor's lucky number.
PLUS, the announcement fell on the one-year anniversary of Ye's latest album DONDA.
Secondly, Midnights is to be released on October 21st - which coincidentally (or not so coincidentally when it comes to Miss. Swift) is Kim Kardashian's birthday.
PLUS! Many eagle-eyed Swifties couldn't help but notice that the singer-songwriter's bedazzled Oscar de la Renta dress for the VMAs bore a resemblance to Kendall Jenner's 2021 Givenchy Met Gala gown - this one could be a stretch... but it is Taylor, after all!
So, what does all this mean? Is Taylor releasing her re-record of Reputation (which dropped in the Taylor + Kimye feud era) along with Midnights? Or is Petty Swift just holding a grudge and dropping a few digs for the fun of it?
Either way, we're highly entertained and eager for new music.
