Why did you decide to write him a letter, rather than pull him aside and tell him about the contents of the note to his face?
JULIETTE: I am a writer. And sometimes it’s easier to express complex feelings in a letter than getting lost with the crazy energy and pressure of having to say as much as possible to him in a moment that could be cut short.
At a cocktail party it’s unlikely for me to have deep conversations with someone because I want to have fun and laugh and joke and tease. So I wanted him to know that there was a deeper intellectual side, that I have travelled, experienced huge losses in my life, I never want to be a victim but to be happy in life, that sometimes i want to laugh and not be serious because life can be taken away from you so quickly.
I wanted him to know that I was extremely sensitive, but straightforward, happy and energetic but also chilled. Glam girl and sporty. That I don’t need a partner to be my saviour healer as I feel happy inside and complete. I just want to enjoy life with someone.
How did you feel when he presented you with the rose?
JULIETTE: When he called my name I turned my head around to see if he wanted to speak to another Juliette! Some girls in the mansion had made me feel like my connection with Locky was nothing, so I couldn’t even believe he was giving me a rose. I couldn’t believe he even read the letter! Especially as I had the last rose last week.
How did the other girls in the mansion react towards you afterwards?
JULIETTE: Only Areeba and Kristina came up to me. Maybe I was a threat?
When this happened, did you think you'd be able to make things up with Areeba and Kristina?
JULIETTE: I felt terrible that I misunderstood their standoffish behaviour as not wanting to be my friend anymore. Obviously seeing Kristina and Areeba hurt by my actions really upset me. I was angry at myself for not telling them about a letter which I honestly didn’t think was a big deal. But maybe because I got the rose it was a bigger deal.
It’s such an electrifying charged night, sometimes you impulsively do things and giving him the letter was impulsive. I didn’t think fast enough to tell them. I didn’t even know I was actually going to have the balls to hand him a vulnerable letter. I kept trying to talk to them but they weren’t ready. Knowing that I hurt my sisters was painful.
AREEBA
WHO: Did you think Juliette broke the girl code when she approached Locky on her own?
AREEBA: I don't think we had a girl code but we had an agreement to approach Locky as a group and she definitely broke that.
Why did you agree to only approach him as a threesome?
AREEBA: Us three together have a good banter, so we wanted Locky to have fun and not be too "formal" with the whole one on one chat, we wanted him to see how fun we can be together and how good we have built our friendship and also we wanted everyone to get the chance to speak to Locky so we thought being in a threesome might save some time.
Were you upset that Juliette approached him on her own, because she got in before you? Would you have done the same thing?
AREEBA: I was hurt that she didn't check in with me. In all honesty if she told me she was going to give him a letter, I would've been happy for her.
How did you feel when Locky gave Juliette the rose?
AREEBA: I was happy for her, but confused we didn't get the rose.
KRISTINA
What was the advantage for you in agreeing to only approach Locky with Juliette and Areeba?
KRISTINA: I realised how competitive it became to get time with Locky and decided instead of competing with my friends, we decided to unite and approach him together so that we would have a greater chance of being able to speak with him. We also didn’t want to have an intense one and one chat and be in a nice fun casual conversation as a group.
Would you have gone rogue and approached him on your own?
KRISTINA: I’ve never approached a man first in my whole life, so no.
Do you consider what Juliette did as 'breaking the girl code'?
KRISTINA: There can’t really be girl code when you’re all competing for the same man. But the 3 of us agreed that we would have a casual conversation, not outshine each other, as it was equal contribution.
How did you feel when Juliette came away with Locky's rose?
KRISTINA: Where the f*** is my rose?
How did the other girls in the mansion react? Did they applaud her or freeze her out?
KRISTINA: They were very angry about her getting the rose and very encouraging of us to cut her off.
