While you’re no doubt impatiently waiting for the upcoming season of The Bachelor to hit our screens next week; did you know that this year’s Bachelor, Matt Agnew, had actually caught Ten producers’ eye YEARS before we even knew the hunky astrophysicist existed?!
WATCH Matt attend his own wedding in new The Bachelor teaser:
The 31-year-old – who is Australia’s seventh Bachelor – recently told TV Week that after a number of failed dates "through work, friends of friends, Tinder and Bumble," he nearly made the cut for two previous seasons of The Bachelorette.
'I had applied [for The Bachelorette] in the past, but I was busy so I withdrew due to travel commitments and date clashes,’ the 31-year-old explained
Given that Melbourne-based Matt admits he applied “two or three years ago” it is highly likely that he would have been a potential suitor for Georgia Love and Sophie Monk’s seasons of the reality show.
As viewers will remember, Georgia went on to find love with contestant Lee Elliott, while Sophie endured a short and ill-fated romance with winner Stu Laundy.
The 31-year-old is gearing up for an exciting premiere.
But in an interview with 10 Daily this week Matt confessed that one of his main loves is his impressive job.
Delving into what he does, Matt explained: “My specific research is about planetary science, so the stuff I’m doing is trying to figure out where another planet like Earth could exist, so we could actually look and find it.”
Get ready for the exciting new season, premiering on July 31!
