With photos recently emerging showing this year's villain Abbie Chatfield jetting off to Matt's home town after filming wrapped, word has spread that her visit could have something to do with Chelsie's unexpected outburst.
And seeing as Matt hasn’t explicitly said that the final contestant he chooses is the woman he ends up with, it adds more weight to theories that Abbie and Matt could be secretly dating.
“Abbie went to Melbourne after the finale [finished filming] and since then she has started to behave really strangely,” the insider dished. “She’s secretly confessed to the other girls that she has a man, but she keeps saying that while she wishes she could tell them more she just can’t.”
“Now everyone is wondering if the secret man is Matt.”
Although their chemistry is undeniable, Matt has been warned one too many times that she joined the series for all the wrong reasons. And despite admitting during an episode last week that she'd fallen head over heels for the scientist, if she is secretly dating Matt, their relationship could be doomed.
New Facebook comments from the property analyst on a discussion thread have recently emerged and in them, the controversial contestant suggests she's totally ok with significant other's cheating and would much prefer an open relationship.
When a Facebook user commented on a post saying they felt infidelity was "disrespectful" and "felt sick" at the thought of "having sex with a taken man or woman", Abbie weighed in, admitting cheating doesn't bother her.
"I'm all for open relationships tbh and I think monogamy is toxic so cheating doesn't make me feel "sick" (sic)," she wrote.
While this may come as a shock to some, at this point in the competition, Monique Morley, Sogand Mohtat and Matt's very own best friend, Kate, have all doubted Abbie's motives. However, he refuses to listen.
While it's starting to upset the wider population— Twitter is lit with angry memes right now— former Bachie frontrunner Elly Miles has put her finger on why Matt is choosing to ignore other people's opinions. The affable nurse believes he's letting their sexual chemistry cloud his judgement.
Seeing as every scandal this season was centred around the property analyst— meaning she's guaranteed an insane amount of air time— Elly also believes Abbie applied in an attempt to boost her notoriety.
"At the time there were comments being made about going on Bachelor In Paradise and Abbie seemed keen. So I questioned whether she was here for the right reasons if she was already thinking about life without Matt on a different TV show," the fan favourite recently dished to a local publication. "She was very vocal about wanting to appear on the program."
