There’s a focus on wellness here, with a meditation walk, tennis court and daily yoga classes, and I inhale the distant salty air from the ocean as I wheel my weekender to my suite.
The room is compact but clever in design, utilising the space to allow a kitchen, bedroom, lounge and ensuite bathroom. A protected balcony wrapped in glass gives you the feeling of being in among the trees and is the perfect spot to read, I soon learn.
The huge lap pool and cabanas beg to be occupied all day long, but it’s the spa I want to devote time to on my first day. I book a 90-minute Signature Massage and am transported to a parallel universe. It’s unbelievably good, up there with the best I’ve ever experienced and as I sit afterwards in the relaxation room sipping tea, I plan days to follow with very little.
One morning I wander down the private walkway to Tallow Beach and lie out under the sun for the best part of a day; another I start with an 8am yoga class, followed by the buffet and lounging by the pool. When I leave after just three days I feel rejuvenated and vow to do it again next year.
