In Sunday night's episode of Married At First Sight, viewers see Simon break down over the recent loss of his father.
The Queensland groom lost his father in not too long before his wedding ceremony to wife Alene took place.
This was the first time Simon has gone into detail about the emotions he has felt over his loss, describing how his home visit with Alene hard, without having his father there.
When asked how much he would have loved for his father to have met Alene, Simon starts to cry.
"Words can't describe it. Words can't describe it," he said.
"I think he'd be saying keep on going at it mate. Hence why, unfortunately, I have been taking that approach," he said, revealing his motivation to keep on going with the show and his relationship.
"My mum and my dad have been my life mentors," Simon revealed early on in the series.. "Particularly my old man."
"Dad was the most encouraging for me to take on this experiment, and in fact I wouldn't have done it if I hadn't got his backing."
