The Masked Singer scandal: Were they really singing live?

Australia loves a TV talent show, especially when there's singing involved!
But The Masked Singer which, premiered on Channel 10 on Monday night, has fans talking for all the wrong reasons.
The show, which sees 12 celebrities face off against each other as they perform anonymously in elaborate costumes (including a lion, dragon, octopus, monster, wolf, unicorn and prawn costume), has left some viewers confused around one major detail - whether or not the masked singers are actually singing "live".

And while the official stance from Channel 10 is that the artists behind the costumes are singing live, fans aren’t entirely convinced.
“So im confused - how is this live?” wrote one user.
“Hey #MaskedSingerAU, why give mics when they're masked, they're surely not singing live then?!” tweeted another.
