Kelly slammed Guy’s song choice, telling him “Johnny just can’t relish in this incredible moment” because “you took that away from him”.
Guy was not happy, and hit back against Kelly and Delta for “moaning” about the situation.
“You’re crapping on a moment,” he fumed. “I think you’re trying to pick fights.”
As the coaches continued to bicker, the Destiny’s Child singer had had enough and stormed off stage.
“I’m not going back and forth with you Guy, I’m not doing it. I’m not doing that. That ain’t even working,” she raged as Guy continued to fight his case.
The ARIA award winner was less than impressed by Kelly’s departure and didn’t hold back with his feelings about it as a shocked audience watched on.
“So a walk off does heaps!” he yelled at her as she made her way backstage. “What’s a walk off gonna do? It’s so disrespectful!”
A livid Kelly disagreed and screamed at him from off-stage: “No you’re disrespectful. You’re disrespectful!”
Meanwhile, artists Bukhu and Johnny were left to linger on-stage alongside host Darren McMullen, with the episode ending on a cliff-hanger and something tells us that things are set to get even more explosive before Guy makes his final pick.
Following the episode, Guy took to Twitter to further explain his reasoning and apologise for the outburst.
"There is a lot that people don’t see on this show including mentoring and follow up phone calls with the artists. I am disappointed that I didn’t just cop it on the chin and bring focus back to the artists," he wrote.
"It was a challenge having someone like Bukhu and I admit that it seemed vocally unbalanced. I wanted them both 2 shine & thought that showcasing Bukhu’s musicianship was the way 2 do it. He is exceptional and I’m sad that this went down the way it did due to my choice. It’s something that cuts me & I didn’t handle it well"
The Voice continues Monday 7.30pm on Channel Nine.
