Which of these singers will take out the top spot? - by Erin Christie
  • 06 Sep 2021

It’s been a hard and fast season of The Voice, and as a country we’ve watched Rita Ora, Guy Sebastian, Keith Urban, and Jessica Mauboy fall in love with – and then brutally cut – so many talented artists.

Last night’s semi-final showcased some intense talent, and ended with the four judges having to choose just one of their two final artists to take through to the grand finale, which will take place next Sunday, September 12.

With public voting now open, we will see a final performance  from each finalist next week before Australia ultimately decides.

Check out who made it through here!

Arlo Sim

Team Keith – Arlo Sim

Arlo blew the judges away with his blind audition, applying his own unique styling to Yebba’s In My Mind. After connecting with Keith, the 19-year-old went on to sing a Billie Eillish classic in the knockout round, which saw Keith push him straight through to the semi-finals, while his other team members were forced to wait for his final decision.

“I feel like he not only hears me as a musician but sees me as a person,” Arlo said of Keith.

“Keith is wise and knowledgeable, and I have learnt so much from him already,” he told WHO.

Last night, Arlo left it all on the stage with a performance of Keane’s Somewhere Only We Know, blowing away all four judges, and landing himself Keith’s final spot in the grand finale.

This meant we had to say goodbye to Lau Abend, the fearless singer who was inspired to pursue music and follow her dreams after a scuba-diving incident left her fearing for her life.

mick-harrington-semi-final

Mick Harrington

Seven

Team Jess – Mick Harrington

The ginger-haired mowing man from Victoria stole our hearts again last night, singing Superman by Five for Fighting.

The Australian public first fell in love with Mick when he sang Somewhere Over the Rainbow for his blind audition, turned four chairs, and proposed to his partner, Bec. And now, he’s earned his spot in the final showdown.

“The Aussie dream is alive and well … stoked to be part of the grand finale,” he wrote on Instagram last night.

Ella Monnery

When Jess selected Mick, we said goodbye to Ella Monnery, the talented New Zealand artist who lost her chance last year when COVID border closures meant she couldn’t return to finish filming the show.

“After a year and a half I have finally been eliminated from @thevoiceau 👀😂 I wanted to return this year to finish what I started & feel completely fulfilled with that!!” she shared on Instagram after her elimination.

G-Nat!on

Team Rita – G-Nat!on

The members of girl group G-Nat!on were thrilled to find themselves with a ticket to the finale after their performance of Arian Grande’s 7 Rings.

Isla, Taylah, Alessia, Mateja, Rylee and Emma have gone from strength to strength in the competition, despite some backlash from fans pointing out the potential advantage of being in a group during a contest usually catered to solo singers.

Sian Fuller

Seven

The girls beat out Sian Fuller, the 16-year-old songstress who came along to the blind auditions in support of her brother, and was offered the opportunity to audition herself.

“Words cannot even begin to describe how grateful I am for this opportunity. Thank you everyone so, so much for all your support. from not even planning on auditioning, to making it to the semi-final is so surreal to me,” the teen wrote on Instagram.

bella-taylor-smith-semi-final

Bella Taylor Smith

Seven

Team Guy – Bella Taylor Smith

Bella Taylor Smith stole hearts once more with her performance of Everybody Hurts by REM. The 23-year-old has captured Australia’s hearts with her pure nature, and has been refreshingly candid about her family struggles and how they power her art.

“HUGE thank you to @guysebastian for believing in me and taking me through,  I understand the weight and impact that this experience carries and just want to say I couldn’t be more grateful,” she wrote on Instagram.

jordan-fuller-semi-final

Jordan Fuller

Seven

Unfortunately, this meant we said goodbye to the other Fuller sibling, Jordan.

“My reality TV era is over and done !! what a bloody ride that was. Forever grateful for the experience and getting to do it with my beautiful sis @siannfuller, was seriously phenom,” he shared on Instagram.

The Voice Finale will take place at 7pm on Sunday, September 12.
