In a media release on Oct. 22, Foxtel announced the series' full cast, which will be led by comedian and actor Tim Minchin.
UPRIGHT is "the story of two misfits, thrown together by chance in the middle of the Australian desert forging the unlikeliest of bonds in their quest to get a precious piano from one side of the country to the other."
“From the moment I heard about the idea for UPRIGHT, I knew it was the show I’d been waiting to make," Minchin says. "I like stories that make me laugh and think and cry, I adore the landscapes of outback Australia."
Joining Minchin in the cast line-up is Heather Mitchell, who starred in A Place To Call Home and Great Gatsby.
Love Child star Ella Scott Lynch has also been cast for the series.
Starring alongside will be actor Daniel Lapaine who is known for his role as David Van Arckle in the 1994 Australian classic Muriel's Wedding.
Rising actress Milly Alcock will also join the stellar cast.
The eight part series will begin production this month.
