The former AFL player is tonight celebrating winning the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent, but he hasn't let the title go to his head.
When asked about his status as an Aussie heartthrob, the sports presenter admits to being less than impressed.
“I’m fat, I’m old … I’ve got bags under my eyes...Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” he joked.
Tony was a strong contender to be The Bachelor with the show pushing to shake things up after being accused of lacking diversity.
They have cast three Bachelors instead of one for the upcoming season, which is currently on the Gold Coast.
But we’re still waiting to see whether the new format can resurrect Australia’s love for the franchise.
Another Bachelor contender who is also popular with the public is Dr. Chris Brown, who also touched on the topic at tonight’s awards show.
“I can barely hold down one,” he told TV WEEK.
“So, I don’t think it’s a good idea for anyone. It’d be a terrible spectacle. Lovely show, but I can’t see that.”
He also joked that interference from his I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! co-presenter Julia Morris would get in the way.
“She would come in and just say: ‘No, no, no, no, no. And just clear them all out. And then that would be the show. So, it’d be a one episode run,” he joked.
