The inspirational Turia Pitt has shared photos whilst recovering from a nose reconstruction surgery.
"Just a little shout out for my nose. I’m currently recovering from a surgery where doctors reconstructed this bad boy. I won’t go into too much detail, because the gore factor is high," she captioned on a photo on Instagram with her baby son, Hakavai.
As explained by Turia, the surgery involved doctors taking cartilage from her ear and using it to re-shape her nose, allowing her to breath through her nostrils for the first time in five years.
"I choose to keep having surgeries like this because I believe life is all about continual improvement. And, whatever you do in life, you can’t improve without doing the work," she wrote.
"For me “doing the work” means accepting that I’m going to be in a bit of pain, recognising that I’m not going to be able to do the things I enjoy for a while (running/surfing/being active), taking time off from work and other projects, and trusting the process."
Turia suffered burns to 65 per cent of her body when she was trapped in a grassfire in 2011.
