This story contains mild spoilers from the first two episodes of Dirty John
She's not the nicest person, but in a show about a con man and his clueless mark, Veronica "don't call me Ronnie" Newell (Juno Temple) is easily the best character in Netflix series Dirty John. Here's why we rate Debra's (Connie Britton) older daughter:
She tells it like it is
You know exactly where you stand with Veronica. From calling her mum out in therapy to making it clear in no uncertain terms how she feels about John (Eric Bana) - "Do not sit me next to him" - she does not hold back.
She makes withering stares an artform
She has a killer wardrobe
And accessorises perfectly for any occasion - Thanksgiving lunch, visiting her mum at work, a trip to the local private investigator's office ...
She makes a mean smoothie
Or should that be: she makes a smoothie meanly?
She has A1 negotiating skills
After striding into the handbag store to sell off her Chanel bag and getting the saleswoman to agree to buy it, Veronica says, "Yeah, you will. And I'll tell you for exactly how much."
She's naturally suspicious
When she finds out John is driving her mother's Maserati, the first thing she says is: "We should put a tracking device on the car."
She's a good multi-tasker
She can listen to her younger sister whinge AND keep track of what John is up to on her laptop at the same time.
And for no apparent reason, she can rock a unicorn costume
