What allegations were made against Armie Hammer?
In early 2021, a woman known only as Effie came forward to allege that Armie had attacked and raped her in 2017, after they’d had an affair lasting years.
“I tried to get away, but he wouldn’t let me. I thought that he was going to kill me,” she alleged. “He then left with no concern for my well-being. I was completely in shock and couldn’t believe someone I loved did that to me.”
Text messages were also leaked via social media, claiming to have been sent by Armie that detailed the actor’s cannibalistic desires.
One text read: “Would you come and be my property till you die? If I wanted to cut off one of your toes and keep it with me in my pocket so I always had a piece of you in my possession?”
While the 36-year-old repeatedly denied each accusation, he was dropped by his talent agency and withdrew from romantic comedy, Shotgun Wedding.
He has since retreated from the screen and Hollywood entirely.
