Who stars in My Fake Boyfriend?
Keiynan Lonsdale, Dylan Sprouse, and Sarah Hyland are the key players in the film, starring respectively as lead role Andrew, Jake, and Kelly.
This is a bit of a Gen Z/Millennial dream, given we pretty much grew up with these actors, who are now all in or approaching their 30s.
While local cutie Keiynan got his start as Oliver Lloyd in Dance Academy, he’s also had roles as Wally West on The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. He also starred in the LGBTIQA rom-com Love, Simon in 2018.
Dylan Sprouse is best known to us as Zack Martin from the Disney sitcom The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. More recently, he starred as Trevor in After We Collided, the sequel to the 2019 film After.
Sarah Hyland grew up alongside us as Haley Dunphy on Modern Family, which ran for 11 years.
What is My Fake Boyfriend about?
The basic summary is that Jake and Kelly make a fake boyfriend to scare off Andrew’s possessive ex-boyfriend, but if you take a little bit of a closer look, it does seem to get a bit more complicated than that.
The dedicated team of besties create ‘Cristiano’, who is completely perfect, meaning the rest of the world becomes obsessed with him as well.
As his popularity grows, Jake becomes intrigued bu what he has created, as the enticing world of influencing seems to call to him, adding an edge of darkness to the story.
Meanwhile, Andrew looks set to fall head over heels for his real-life dream guy, Rafi, a charming restaurant owner who has captured his heart.
With all these plates spinning, we’re keen to see how it all unfolds in this sweet and funny film.
