Will The Eras Tour Concert Film be released in Australia?
Taylor Swift herself has announced the global release of the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Concert Film.
The initial announcement revealed showings of the film across the United States, Canada and Mexico. “The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far,” Taylor began her post, “I’m overjoyed to tell you that it’ll be coming to the big screen soon.”
“Starting Oct 13th you’ll be able to experience the concert film in theaters in North America! Tickets are on sale now. Eras attire, friendship bracelets, singing and dancing encouraged.”
Shortly after the initial announcement, it was revealed that more than 100 countries are also set to host screenings. “The tour isn’t the only thing we’re taking worldwide…” Taylor shared to a film poster uploaded to Instagram. “Been so excited to tell you all that The Eras Tour concert film is now officially coming to theatres WORLDWIDE on Oct 13!”
The news wasn't a complete surprise though, with many fans already convinced Taylor was set to announce an Eras Tour documentary soon, especially given the presence of film cameras on stage at the Los Angeles show on August 3rd.
This was the first show to feature a film crew on stage with Taylor, which is different to the usual crew capturing footage for the big screen at the concert venues. There were also cameras filming fans in the crowd, along with notices around the stadium alerting the audience that “filming was underway.”

The digital release of The Eras Tour movie will also include an additional three songs, Wildest Dreams, The Archer, and Long Live, that were previously not included in the theatrical cut of the film.

Where to watch the Eras Tour movie in Australia...
So, we have a theory. While Taylor has confirmed that she is making an Eras Tour concert film, which is getting a global cinema release - there's one last question, where would it stream?
Taylor has recently shared a close working relationship with Amazon's Prime Video. Not only did she allow the Amazon Original series The Summer I Turned Pretty to use half her back catalogue in Season 1 and Season 2, but she also let them use Back To December (Taylor’s Version) in an advertisement, before the song was even released.
Taylor is also working with Prime Video on the release of The Eras Tour film, with the streaming service already picking up the streaming rights to the film in the U.S. and Canada.
Although the global streaming information has not yet been confirmed by Taylor or her team, we can anticipate that Taylor's recent affiliation with the streaming service will see The Eras tour available to stream in Australia through Prime Video.
What will the Eras Tour movie be about?
There are two pretty clear ways this film could go; either a straight-up concert tour film, that just consists of the live show. And, considering the show spans over three hours, with a set list of 44 songs divided into 10 distinct acts, there's a lot of ground to cover here already.
Alternatively, it could be a documentary that includes the lead-up to the main event and showcases Taylor's personal relationship to the tour and her fame, as Miss Americana did.
Or maybe... it's both? We wouldn't put it past Taylor to give her fans EVERYTHING she possibly can. At this stage, the Event cinemas description reads: "The cultural phenomenon continues on the big screen! Immerse yourself in this once-in-a-lifetime concert film experience with a breathtaking, cinematic view of the history-making tour. Taylor Swift Eras attire and friendship bracelets are strongly encouraged!"
We also know the running time of the film will be 2 hours and 45 minutes. The actual live tour runs for over three hours, so it appears that the film tightens up the show by a bit.
