Where can you watch The Kardashians in Australia?
The new show has been filmed exclusively for Hulu - but thankfully the reality series has been picked up by an alternate streaming service for international release. The Kardashians is now available to stream on Disney Plus in Australia. If you're not already signed up to Disney Plus, you can sign up here for just $11.99 per month.
When does The Kardashians air in Australia?
The first episode dropped on April 14, 2022. Much like the original KUWTK, The Kardashians will have new episodes dropping weekly each Thursday.
The first episode broke records on Hulu in the United States, with the streaming service revealing that The Kardashians is its biggest series premiere in history.
So, it looks like OG fans are certainly keen on keeping up - which is good news, considering they've signed on for 40 episodes.
Why did the family want to stop filming KUWTK?
It’s no secret that family feuds had become a central, often toxic, part of the KUWTK story. Their on-screen fights were legendary.
According to the unofficial head of the family, Kim Kardashian, that's part of why they wanted to stop the show. In the new series they'll be placing greater focus on the many different businesses the sisters own and, of course, what Momager Kris Jenner is up to.
"It will be a different side," Kim told The Wall Street Journal in October. "But I wouldn't say that our silly sides are not going to come out."
"This is the next chapter," Kris revealed at Disney's Upfronts virtual presentation in May 2021. "In the new show, you'll see us evolving as a family, fans want us to be who we are and since moment one, they've been emotionally invested in our show just like we are."
Of course, the move to Hulu was bigger than just "new themes" and a fresh vibe. In an exclusive new cover story with Variety, the famous family put it simply: "money always matters."
"We give so much of our personal lives up for entertainment," Khloé told the publication of the reported nine-figure salary they received. "We always have our private family conversations, and we're pretty brutal, me and my sisters, with what we will settle for or not settle for."
"Not all money is good money. It has to be a good fit, and Hulu was just the perfect fit for us," she continued, adding all the family members would be making an equal share.
Momager Kris said: "Well, money always matters. I think that anybody would be foolish to say that money doesn’t matter anymore."
What can fans expect from The Kardashians?
According to the family tell-all with Variety, Disney Plus will be releasing two seasons with 40 episodes - described as "premium" reality television, with more of a "documentary style" of filming.
Unlike the personal storylines of KUWTK - which some of the women had begun to pull away from - many of The Kardashians plotlines will focus on family business endeavors.
But it's not all board meetings and Kylie Cosmetics brand strategy. Eagle-eyed fans may already know from the engagement photos, but Kourtney Kardashian and her fiancé Travis Barker filmed their engagement and family celebrations for the show back in October.
In the first look trailer released by Hulu on February 23, fans could see that the engagement storyline will play out on our screens. The family were seen celebrating the happy news, with Kim joking: "Mum has never had that reaction for me, and I've done it a few times."
Kim's new relationship with Pete Davidson will also be scoring some air time, with the star telling Variety she opens up on the show about how they "met and who reached out to who and how it happened and all the details that everyone wants to know."
"I’m definitely open to talking, and I definitely explain it," she tells the publication.
Kim also says her divorce from Kanye West will be featured, but makes a note that she will not be following suit in the way he has aggressively been attacking herself and Pete online.
"Being in the public eye and having disagreements publicly is never easy," Kim told the outlet. "But I do believe in handling it all privately. I believe in championing publicly and criticising privately.
"I don’t think I would ever criticise the father of my children on my TV show. That’s just not really what I’m about, and I just don’t think that would ever make me feel good. I’m always really respectful of what the kids will see."
The relationship issues between Khloé and Tristan Thompson - who recently confirmed he "fathered a child" with another woman - will also play out on screen to an extent.
He's seen in the first teaser at a family dinner, which means the drama would have happened during filming and there was no real way around showing what happened.
"I wish I never had to talk about that because it’s not a fun thing to talk about," Khloé told Variety. "But it is part of my journey in life, so we will see it on the show."
Meanwhile, Kylie Jenner has just welcomed her second child with Travis Scott and Kendall Jenner is in a loved-up relationship with NBA player Devin Booker.
Though, both younger sisters are likely to keep those personal moments a little more under wraps on the TV show, since they are notoriously private about those relationships.
"New year, new show, new beginnings. Are you ready to get closer than ever before?" the teaser trailer asked the family's loyal fans. We sure are.
