The limited series is another adaptation of a Jenny Han book, the author who shot to international fame when her novel To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before was made into a smash-hit Netflix film.
With a similar coming-of-age vibe, The Summer I Turned Pretty follows the adventures of Isabel, affectionately nicknamed “Belly”, who finds herself in a love triangle between two brothers she’s known her whole life.
While away for the summer with her mother, brother, her mother’s best friend and her two sons, Belly discovers love for the first time, as well as heartbreak, and the magic of a ‘perfect summer’, an idea we all remember with fond nostalgia.
The book series is aimed at young adults yet there’s something alluring about the beachy, summer romance that’s comforting in its predictability. The trailer is also set to the re-release of Taylor Swift’s 1989 track This Love, which gives the cheesy, adorable vibes we’re looking for.
New, young actors will bring the book to life.

Who is in The Summer I Turned Pretty?
Just like in To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, the producers have decided to celebrate new talent to represent the teenagers in the show.
Lana Condor and Noah Centineo were mostly unknown prior to the All the Boys trilogy, and we expect these new young actors will be exploding into the mainstream soon, too.
Lola Tung will play Belly, and Gavin Casalegno and Christopher Briney will respectively play Jeremiah and Conrad, the two brothers she feels drawn to and torn between.
We're ready for a beachy summer romance to steal our hearts for the winter.

Is it a movie or a TV series?
While To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before was made into a trilogy of films, The Summer I Turned Pretty will be a limited series.
Just like its predecessor, The Summer I Turned Pretty is also a trilogy of books, which follows Belly, Conrad and Jeremiah over a number of years.
