Set to premiere globally across Disney’s streaming services on May 20 (right here), the new film will see several familiar faces come together for this drama-packed ride.
Samara will play a world-famous movie star, Olivia, who gets embroiled in a PR disaster when a paparazzi captures a photo of her with her married lover, Vincent (Max Greenfield).
It’s then she crosses paths with the hard-working valet Antonio, played by Eugenio Derbez, after he accidentally appears in the same photo and is enlisted to pose as Olivia’s new boyfriend as a cover up.
This ruse with Olivia thrusts Antonio into the spotlight and unexpected chaos. In this fish out of water romantic comedy, two worlds and cultures collide as both Olivia and Antonio start to see themselves more clearly than ever before.
Speaking to People, Samara expressed her delight over this new gig, which is directed by Richard Wong with a screenplay from Rob Greenberg and Bob Fisher.
“It was a delight working with this fantastic team on the set of The Valet and I feel very lucky to have been apart of this whimsical movie,” she said.
“Working with the likes of Eugenio, Max, Betsy and Carmen with our fearless leader Rich made the 3am calls very very worth it.”
Her co-star Eugenio also gushed: “I loved working with Samara! It would have been very easy for her role to be unlikable – a rich, beautiful, famous actress – who can feel sympathy for her?
“But Samara brought so much warmth and humanity to the character that we end up really rooting for her and my character to connect… but how much will they connect? Well, you have to see the movie to find out!”
We also got a first look at the rom-com in a new trailer released ahead of the premiere, which shows Olivia and Antonio getting to know each other and forming an unexpected bond.
Although, Antonio appears to struggle under the limelight, and at one point tells Olivia he has been “trying to get” his ex back, to which Olivia responds about their ruse, “Maybe we’ll both get what we want out of this insanity.”
Joining Samara and Eugenio on the cast list are stars like Betsy Brandt, Carmen Salinas Lozano, Amaury Nolasco and Marisol Nichols.
Diany Rodriguez, Tiana Okoye, John Pirruccello, Ravi Patel, Noemí González and Lunay will also appear in the film, which is set to become a new favourite.
