The drama series, which streams on Amazon Prime, was first released at the end of 2020, introducing us to characters like Fatin, Dot, Martha, Shelby, Leah, and twins Rachel and Nora.

What is The Wilds about?

Season one revolved around a group of teenage girls who were all en route to a young woman’s empowerment retreat in Hawaii when their plane crashed, leaving them stranded on a deserted island.

We were introduced to characters like Fatin, Dot, Martha, Shelby, Leah, and twins Rachel and Nora, whose stories are explained during their time on the island, but also through flashbacks and flashforwards, where they are speaking to authorities after their ordeal.

While the girls work to survive on the island, the audience is let in on the fact that their crash was no accident. In fact, the girls are part of a social experiment orchestrated by the same woman who was heading up the empowerment program, the Dawn of Eve.

And in the cliffhanger final episode, which saw one of the girls discover *spoiler alert* that there’s a group of boys being monitored, we were left with a perfect set-up for a second season.

What happens in season two?

Now that it’s been revealed there were two plane crashes, and two islands, all along – we have a bunch of new characters to meet.

Season two will introduce us to a new cast of young men.

The boys’ program is called – somewhat disturbingly – the ‘Twilight of Adam’, and we don’t need to know the Bible too well to know what the goal of the experiment could be.

While nine of the boys are left stranded, soon only eight are left, with DJ being mutilated and killed by an animal in the first episode. However, we soon learn that one was staged as well, and DJ is working on the inside to help orchestrate the experience with his mother.

His mother, the leader of the experience, Gretchen Klein, is played by Aussie actress Rachel Griffiths in a chilling performance you won’t forget anytime soon.
