The traditional method of making kombucha involves a natural fermentation of sweet tea and wild healthy bacteria and yeasts called a SCOBY (symbiotic culture of good bacteria and yeast). The result is a tasty sparkling drink that’s naturally free from sugar and contains healthy, living cultures (aka good bacteria) and organic acids that can offer benefits for your gut and overall wellbeing.
Meet the makers
While people have been making their own ‘booch’ for thousands of years, it hasn’t been something you can pick up at the servo or supermarket until recently.
When Sarah and Emmet Condon started Remedy in their kitchen, they knew they wanted to do something good. They realised they were onto a good thing as they’d been making their own kombucha for a while and it was a hit with their family and friends. They also knew that healthy could be tasty and easy – and wanted the rest of us to know that, too.
Not surprisingly, it caught on and Australians have gone mad for the stuff. While the Remedy team have moved into bigger digs to make their kombucha, Remedy is still made the old-school way: in small batches, long-aged brewed in a warm environment for 30 days. The result is a range of 11 tasty, healthy and readily available kombuchas you can grab on the go and feel good about.
The Remedy difference
Remedy Kombucha is raw and unpasteurised to keep all the goodness inside, including live cultures (that’s those good bacteria again), healthy organic acids (aka short chain fatty acids, SCFAs), and antioxidants known as polyphenols.
Best of all, Remedy naturally contains no sugar, because they follow a long-aged brewing process to remove all sugar, converting it into a drink that is rich in those live cultures and organic acids we’ve already told you about. It also carries the I Quit Sugar Recommends tick, so if you’re cutting out the sweet stuff, you’re sweet-as.
And while we’re ticking boxes, Remedy is also certified organic, vegan, gluten-free, fructose-free and paleo-friendly.
