The family have been getting into the festive spirit, and while decorating their Christmas tree on Wednesday, Elsa took to Instagram to share footage of the massive fir, which also provided a sneaky look inside their luxe home.

“Some like it plaid!” the 43-year-old captioned a photo of herself and her three children – daughter India Rose, 7, and twin sons Tristan and Sasha, 5 – all dressed in matching tartan pajamas.

The Spanish actress also shared a video, which showed one of her kids handing her a candy cane decoration, which she then placed onto the Christmas tree.

In the clip, the gigantic fir – which is covered with red poinsettia flowers, sheer gold ribbons, and plenty of gold and red baubles – towers over Elsa and her brood.

Chris and Elsa recently moved into their mansion, and last month Elsa responded to complaints from neighbours that her newly-renovated home looks like a “shopping centre”.

“Seriously, it’s not that big!” she said on The Kyle and Jackie O Show.

Elsa added that people believe the 4.2 hectare estate is bigger than it actually is due to the perspective of aerial photographs.

Chris and Elsa married in 2010, just three months after they met.

“From the first time we met, we just made sense. She’s fun. She’s outgoing, and she has a sense of humour and a passionate attitude toward life, which is nice to try to keep up with,” Chris told ELLE in 2015.

Meanwhile Elsa recently told WHO that the couple are just like everyone else, and still have to work at their relationship.

“We’re the same as everybody else,” Elsa told WHO.

“We don’t have a special secret. We have our ups and downs.”

“Nothing is as easy and perfect as it looks,” a candid Elsa said.

“We have those moments where we shout at the kids and then we feel like horrible parents and we have to work at being a couple like everyone else.

“There are those moments where you fight, and I think you have to put a lot of effort into [your marriage]. As much effort asyou put into your work, you have to put into your marriage and into being a dad and a mum. And it’s constant work.”
