Over a decade since their first meeting, Margot Robbie and Tom Ackerley have a love story that continues to blossom. And now the couple have become parents, after welcoming their first child together, a baby boy on October 17.

How did Tom Ackerly and Margot Robbie meet?
Shortly after moving in together, Margot and Tom quickly began to fall for one another, with the pair agreeing to keep their romance a secret from their housemates.
Despite their best efforts to keep their relationship under wraps, Margot revealed the couple’s housemates eventually caught on to their romance, telling The Guardian: “Our house turned into The Jerry Springer Show for a moment there. But then the dust settled, and it was all good. Everyone was, like: ‘No! This is going to ruin our group!’ And then it didn’t. It was fine.”
“I was the ultimate single gal. The idea of relationships made me want to vomit. And then this crept up on me,” she later admitted to Vogue.
“We were friends for so long. I was always in love with him, but I thought, ‘Oh, he would never love me back. Don’t make it weird, Margot. Don’t be stupid and tell him that you like him.’ And then it happened, and I was like, ‘Of course we’re together. This makes so much sense, the way nothing has ever made sense before.’”
While Margot and Tom’s relationship was not a secret to their nearest and dearest, the couple debuted their romance on Instagram in April 2015, with Tom sharing a snap of the pair.

The couple first sparked wedding speculation in December 2016 after Margot was photographed arriving at the Gold Coast Airport wearing a “Say I Do Down Under” t-shirt.
Shortly after the photographs were released, the Aussie actress took to Instagram to announce the couple’s nuptials, posting a photo of themselves sharing a kiss alongside her engagement ring.
One week later Tom also shared a snap from the couple’s low-key Byron Bay wedding day, simply writing “She’s all that.”
While the couple originally planned to honeymoon in Tahiti shortly after their wedding day, the pair postponed their honeymoon to work on their Oscar-nominated film I, Tonya.
Speaking on their decision, Margot told Extra TV, “We did this film instead of our honeymoon. There were times we were sitting in a car parked in Atlanta freezing cold being like, ‘We should be on a beach right now. We should be on a honeymoon. What are we doing?!’ Following our dream.”
Following the promotion for I, Tonya, Margot opened up about married life for the first time.
“Being married is actually the most fun ever, life got way more fun somehow. I have a responsibility being someone’s wife, I want to be better,” she told Porter.
Despite their busy work schedules, the Suicide Squad star revealed that quality time remains an important factor in the couple’s relationship.
“Even if we both have to fly to a country in-between where we both are for one night, we’ll do it and then fly back to work the next day. And we speak all day, every day on the phone.”

For her 2019 Vogue cover story, Margot opened up on her working relationship with her husband and LuckyChap Entertainment co-founder.
“It’s nice working with your spouse. We can talk about work all the time, and then work feels like fun and fun stuff can involve work,” she told the publication.
Similarly to many Hollywood couples, Margot and Tom now live primarily in Los Angeles.
Speaking on The Project in 2020, she shared: “We don’t get as much downtime as we’d probably like, but we both really like what we do.”
“We also have a lot of time to chill – actually that’s a lie we don’t have time to chill – but we have a lot of fun and we love what we do.”

Speaking about Margot’s performance as Barbie, Tom told Prensae Scenario: “Margot is just such an incredible actor and she brings so much heart to the role. There’s so [many] layers to that character, and she brings so much more than what’s just on the page to the character and it’s just been incredible to watch.”
Following the film’s premiere, the pair were seen at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards and 2024 Critics Choice Awards as nominees for their work together on Barbie.
Do Margot Robbie and Tom Ackerley have children?
After 10 years together, Margot and Tom were revealed to be expecting their first child in 2024.
An insider told People magazine that the couple was “happy” the news was finally out.
“Family means a lot to both of them and they knew early on in their relationship being parents was something they really wanted,” the source said, adding the pair had been keeping the news “under wraps” for a while.
Photos that same month showed the pair looking loved-up at Wimbledon, with Margot’s baby bump clear to see.
The pair quietly welcomed a baby boy in October 2024, with the Aussie star spotted pushing a stroller the following month.
Margot, who is notoriously private, never commented publicly on her pregnancy or birth of the couple’s first child, but she did previously hint at dreams of having a big family.
“If I’m looking into my future 30 years from now, I want to see a big Christmas dinner with tons of kids there. But definitely not at the moment. That’s 100 per cent certain,” she told Porter in 2018.
