The Bachelor Australia star Abbie Chatfield caused quite a stir last week when she was spotted kissing and dancing with current Bachelorette contestant Konrad Bien-Stephens. Now, he’s confirmed their romance in a new interview.
Despite still being in the running for Brooke Blurton’s heart at the time, 31-year-old Konrad was spotted enjoying a night out on the town with 26-year-old Abbie last week. Can you even believe the scandal of it all? This is the kind of reality TV spoiler fans live for.
He’s since been eliminated, farewelling Brooke on Thursday night’s episode of The Bachelorette Australia. But it’s fair to say fans weren’t exactly shocked when he was sent home, thanks to the snaps.
In the photos, published by the Daily Mail, Abbie and Konrad were seen together at the Beach Hotel in Byron Bay. The bombshell snaps showed the pair to be up close and personal, with Konrad’s hands wrapped around Abbie’s waist. He was also seen leaning in for a kiss.
“Obviously it has been a bit of time since production ended with Brooke,” Konrad told 10 play after the episode aired last night. “We didn’t work out but I really like Abbie. She’s an awesome girl and I’m excited for what the future holds.
“I’m sort of head over heels for Abbie at the minute. It’s very early days but it’s a legitimate thing. I mean, everything happens for a reason so maybe this is what was meant to be.”
At the time the photos surfaced, Abbie also uploaded a series of Instagram Stories about a recent date she had enjoyed with a fellow Gemini. And wouldn’t you know it, the Shameless podcast did a little LinkedIn digging and discovered Konrad to be a Gemini himself. Say what you will, but internet sleuths are very real.

“Um, how do we feel about two Geminis being more than friends? Is it bad? Is it good? Not that I really care, or that I’m asking… but yeah let me know,” Abbie asked her followers at the time.
In another IG Story, she wrote: “We just kissed in the car listening to Savage Garden while he downloaded The Pattern for me. Ugh.”
Though they’ve not been spotted together in public since the kissing photos went viral, they didn’t exactly get away with their secret romance either. In a series of follow-up photos by The Daily Mail, it was revealed Abbie and Konrad had both been seen driving the same white car around Byron Bay.
Now that he’s been booted from the show, the duo are sure to keep fans up to date on their romance. Maybe Konrad will be featured in one of Abbie’s posts about her new $1.45 million Byron pad?
It’s no surprise that Abbie has matched up with Konrad outside of the Bachie mansion, having gushed about his good looks on her podcast It’s A Lot. She already said that if he wasn’t Brooke’s chosen finalist, she would be making sure to bring him on the podcast for an interview.
He may have been a fan-favourite on his season, but he wasn’t exactly the favourite to win. Everyone and their mother is certain at this point that Darvid Garayeli will be walking away as this season’s winner. Not to mention, he’s tipped to win on SportsBet and TAB – a sure-fire sign that he takes out the series.
Regardless of who takes out the competition, Brooke has confirmed that she has definitely found love on the show. “I’m so happy and in love. I can’t wait to be able to go public,” she previously told WHO.
