Alyssa Milano has reconnected with Shannen Doherty in light of her former Charmed costar’s battle with breast cancer.
“I’ve reached out to her … and I try to continue to reach out to her once a week,” Milano, 43, told Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday.
“I tweeted, I [direct-messaged] her and I obviously told her my concern and how everyone was on her side, and we’re all supporting her, and she was very appreciative that I reached out, which was very sweet.”

Doherty, 45, revealed her diagnosis to PEOPLE in August 2015 and, in the year that followed, has been candid about what it’s been like to fight for her life.
The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum has been open about her journey, sharing photos and videos of her treatments on social media, documenting her hair shave and attending events to raise cancer awareness.

Milano praised Doherty’s decision to share her experiences throughout her journey to recover.
“It’s such a horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible illness, so to see anyone struggle like that in such a public way is heartwarming and gut-wrenching all at the same time,” she told ET.
Doherty took to Instagram this week, sharing a video of yet another round of chemotherapy.
“Chemo day. I’m lucky to have such a great team!!!” she captioned the clip. Dawn has been taking care of me pretty much from the start along with Dr. Piro, Joyce, Rosie, Kathy and everyone else at the clinic.”
She added, “I don’t enjoy chemo day or needle like things in my chest or my port but, at least with this crew it’s not so bad.”
