Comedian and actress Amy Schumer and chef Chris Fischer have announced the end of their seven-year marriage.
In a statement on Instagram, Amy confirmed that she and Fischer have decided to separate but emphasised their ongoing respect and commitment to co-parenting their 6-year-old son, Gene.
“We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son,” she wrote, stressing that the decision was amicable and asking for privacy.
While speculation has run rife on social media in recent weeks, multiple insiders say the reasons go beyond what’s been cited in rumours.
According to sources close to the couple, the marriage had been under strain for some time due to tensions around Schumer’s career trajectory.

“With those career goals and her being a mother, she didn’t focus much on her marriage to make that succeed.
“But that is the life she was chasing, and the life she has chosen to take into the new year. She’s realised you can’t have everything and the thing that suffered most was her marriage. Now she is trying to figure it all out one day at a time.”
