In case you missed it, Ariana Grande released another song called ‘7 Rings’
It’s a certified bop, but artist Princess Nokia has recognised something from it… the fact that it sounds exactly like her own song, “Mine”.
The rapper took to Twitter with a video of herself playing Ari’s song back-to-back with “Mine.” The tweet has since been deleted.
After the Sound of Music sample in Ariana’s song, it goes to her “I see it, I like it, I want it, I got it” hook.
“That sounds really familiar to me, oh my god,” Nokia says, before finishing her video with a final statement: “Ain’t that the little song I made about brown women and their hair? Hm. Sounds about white.”
Yikes.
Fans of both Nokia and Ariana have been debating about the similarities of the songs online since.
Nokia even retweeted one fan who suggested Ariana’s “new album literally plagiarizes flows, words, bars from Nokia…” Damn.
Ariana’s fans have been bombarding the replies to Nokia’s video with comments.
BUT WAIT – there’s ~more~
The reason why Nokia seemingly deleted her initial video calling out Ariana, is because of the producer @producedbyKrs, who replied to her video accusing HER of stealing the melody from their first sample pack.
“your producers stole this from our first sample track @oshimakesmusic made that melody.”
Listen to the two songs below to compare:
