Fans believe Ariana Grande is teasing her eighth album thanks to a few clues the singer shared on Instagram this week. While Ariana has been focused on her acting career lately, with Wicked, Wicked: For Good and Meet the Parents sequel Focker-In-Law, she has previously noted that music and songwriting will always be a huge part of her life.

On April 9, Ariana Grande sealed the deal with her incoming album news with a post of her very obviously in a studio and behind the mic. Yay!

Here’s all the sleuthing we’ve done in the lead up that tells us Ari’s new album is coming our way sooner than we think.

Is Ariana Grande hinting at her eighth album?

What sparked the rumours was a post Ariana shared on March 20 showcasing a series of photos of her in a recording studio.

The studio was specifically Max Martin’s, a producer and songwriter who has worked with Ari on several albums, including Eternal Sunshine, her most recent, released in early 2024.

Max worked with Ari on tracks like ‘Yes, And?’, ‘We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)’, ‘Thank U Next’ and more.

However, some fans believe that the timing of the post was also important.

Ari shared the photos on March 18 at 8am (LA time), which some people think is a reference to her eighth album, with the singer previously dropping hints with the number seven it in before her last album dropped.

Ariana’s producer, Ilya Salmanzadeh, also reposted the post.

She has also recently been using eight exclamation marks and heart emojis in her posts.

So, we’re going to take that as five hints that new music is coming:

  1. The singer shared photos inside Max Martin’s studio
  2. The studio belongs to her longtime collaborator
  3. The timing of her post on the 18th of March at 8am
  4. Ilya Salmanzadeh reposted the post
  5. She has been using eight exclamation marks and heart emojis

Funnily enough, however, Ari hasn’t even been able to tour Eternal Sunshine yet due to her acting commitments, with the star opting for a smaller tour from June to September this year.

The tour will have stops in the US, Canada and in London (sadly, no Australia!).

Will Ariana Grande release new music in 2026?

The singer apparently told Variety in January, “Nothing is coming before May.”

Variety also wrote that she added, “I love them so much, but sometimes I want to ask, ‘Do you think there’s another version of me out there who had time to write an album?’ Not yet — but soon enough.”

However, Ariana later clarified those comments on an Instagram post, sharing the quote and commented, “Welp I never said ‘but soon enough’ or mentioned any months! Lol my goooooodness……!!!!! All I said was ‘no’ and ‘do they think there’s a clone of me out there somewhere’!

“There must’ve been a Zoom glitch or something,” she added, before joking, “Ma’am I would need an extra brain and four more arms.”

Fans divided over claims Ariana is recording new music

Fans have been left deeply divided over claims that Ari is releasing new music following her comment above.

“She said no new music lol,” one fan wrote on Instagram.

“Yeah sure,” another added. “She hasn’t even toured Eternal Sunshine yet.”

“Oh please 🙄,” wrote a third.

Plenty of others chose to be delulu about it, though, with one fan commenting, “She’s back!”
