After dating for three years, Australian Survivor star Simon Mee had the perfect proposal planned for his girlfriend Bec.
“We flew to Perth from Brisbane back in April to meet up with Bec’s best friend, whom she hadn’t seen for ages, and also do a road trip,” the 31-year-old tells WHO.
“On one of the days, I’d organised for a beautiful picnic to be set up on the beach near Margaret River with champagne and white linen,” the Brawn tribe member adds.
“I was going to propose, but when we arrived in Perth we found out the COVID-19 situation had changed, and we were either going to have to quarantine for 14 days or go back to Queensland.”

The couple were understandably upset, but Bec was particularly disappointed to miss out on catching up with her best friend, who was expecting a baby.
“She cried all the way back to the airport in the taxi,” Simon recalls of the disheartening trip.
“So, I decided to make the best of a bad situation, and once we were out of the cab, I proposed at the taxi rank. She was wearing a mask and crying, so I barely heard her say yes!”

The pair will marry in October – and hope that Simon, who currently holds two immunity idols in the competition, can win the $500k prize.
“That would be life-changing,” says Simon, who recently gave up marketing to do a carpentry apprenticeship.
“I’d love to win for Bec, she’s my greatest support.”
