When we think of the Bachelor franchise, we think of those couples that found love on the show and continue to thrive in the real world.

Yes, we love seeing loved-up photos of the couples that made it work whether they’re travelling around the country together a la Locky Gilbert and Irena Srbinovska or married with kids like Sam and Snezana Wood. But what about the others?

For half of the Aussie Bachelors and all but one of the Bachelorettes, their reality TV romance didn’t work out but that wasn’t necessarily the end.

In fact, a handful have moved on with partners that they met after their time on the show.

Richie Strahan, season four

Fans were flummoxed when rope technician Richie chose Alex Nation over Nikki Gogan back in 2016 but despite some happy moments together, it wasn’t meant to be.

The exes were even reunited on the second season of Bachelor in Paradise but getting back together was the last thing on either of their minds.

These days Richie is living in Perth and is dating Jenayah Thompson whom he last shared a picture with during the 2020 lockdown.

“I hope everyone is staying safe! I’m enjoying being home from work and spending time with this babe,” he wrote on Instagram.

Alex has also moved on with boyfriend Carson Jory and she’s expecting their first child later this year.

Sophie Monk, season three

When the hilarious Sophie Monk was announced as the 2017 Bachelorette, we jumped for joy. However when she selected Stu Laundy as her winner (never forget Jarrod Woodgate’s tragic walk away along the beach), we weren’t as impressed.

Needless to say, things ended soon after the finale aired but in August 2018 on a business class flight, Sophie’s life changed forever when she met marketing executive and fellow Aussie Joshua Gross.

“I just sat down and he had a sense of humour and I was like, ‘Oh, how relieving, sitting next to someone you can have a chat with’,” Sophie told 9Honey.

“It was like, ‘Good sense of humour, hard worker’… it just happened.”

After months of rumours, the couple announced their engagement in January 2021 and Joshua popped the question with a ring he designed himself.

“Told you I’d tell you guys first💍🙌 I’m engaged,” Sophie said in her engagement photo’s caption, alongside a pic of her and Joshua embracing with her sparkly diamond ring on show.

“I honestly can’t thank you enough for all the love and support. I know I have the coolest people following me and you’ve always had my back and I feel so cared about. You’re absolute bloody legends. I’m not very good at being mushy. I’m trying to say I absolutely adore you.😍”

Nick Cummins, season six

In a Bachelor first, rugby union star Nick Cummins chose neither Brittany Hockley or Sophie Tieman in the 2018 finale after declaring he wasn’t in love with either woman and didn’t want to lead them on only to break up.

Since then, all three have found their special someone so they clearly aren’t too affected by the show!

Nick is dating Sydney socialite Alex George and has reportedly been since June 2020 when the Daily Telegraph reported that the couple spent lockdown with each other in Seal Rocks, on the mid-north coast of New South Wales.

Things are getting serious too as the couple recently adopted pet dog Dougie.

As for Nick’s final two, they’re in committed relationships as well.

Whilst Brittany Hockley is dating professional tennis player Jordan Thompson, in December 2020 Sophie Tieman announced her engagement.

Happily ever after for all!

Becky Miles, season six

It was a double Bachelorette bonanza in 2020 but neither Becky nor Elly Miles’ chosen winners went the distance.

Whilst Elly and Frazer Neate dealt with cheating rumours, three days after the finale was filmed Becky’s chosen man Pete Mann ended their relationship leaving her heartbroken.

But not long after the eldest Miles sister started dating fellow Newcastle local James Bevitron and introduced him to fans and followers on Valentine’s Day 2021.

“I feel understood, appreciated and loved by you and that’s a pretty amazing place to be… Here’s to many more kombi #vanlife adventures with you,” she wrote on Instagram.
