It may not come as a shock to everyone, but there are zero lasting couples from the first two seasons of Bachelor in Paradise. But we’ve seen some great and not-so great pairings over the years so let’s take a trip down memory lane.
Tara Pavlovic and Sam Cochrane
They were couple goals in the first season, with their love story even ending in a televised proposal, but once filming wrapped Sam and Tara’s relationship turned sour faster than you can say “Will you accept this rose?”
Speaking to the Daily Mail after things ended between them, Tara called their relationship “the most toxic thing ever” adding that Sam would tell her she “needed someone who was ‘dumb with no feelings'” and that he was “too smart and deep” for her.
Sam also spoke out to Woman’s Day telling the publication how Tara allegedly physically and verbally abused him.
Tara has since found happiness with her fiance Nick Shepherdson whilst Sam appears to still be single.
Megan Marx and Jake Ellis
They lasted outside of Paradise but Megan and Jake’s on and off relationship couldn’t go the distance.
According to Megan, Jake “fought relentlessly” for her but after their most recent break up, she admitted that whilst she was glad they gave it another shot there’s no point in dating if it’s a slog.
“He was so confident that we were meant to be and he fought really hard for it and there were things in our relationship that I wasn’t happy with and he said that he would change and give it another go,” she told The Daily Mail.
“I felt like I owed it to him, to the relationship and to myself to try again.”
Despite not working out, we have to praise them for their amicable break up and hope that they (both of whom are still single) find love. Question is, will Jake find it on season three of Paradise?
Keira Maguire and Jarrod Woodgate
Sophie Monk’s Stage Five Clinger and Richie Strahan’s Queen Bee were the odd couple we thought would last forever, but alas Keira and Jarrod were just too odd of a couple.
The couple’s on-off relationship was anything but boring with the pair finally calling it quits in August last year.
Even though Jarrod is now dating Sam Royce from Matt Agnew’s season of The Bachelor and Keira is back for another season in Fiji, they’ll always be the BIP mum and dad to us.
Grant Kemp and Ali Oetjen
Despite lasting until the final commitment ceremony in season one, we couldn’t help but cringe at Ali’s fling with American Bachelorette contestant Grant.
Even after the show they proved how not-meant-to-be they were when it was reported that Ali cheated on Grant with one of his friends in the US. Grant then told WHO that her behaviour when she drank alcohol was troubling and that she met her ex-fiance because she was hooking up with his brother.
Thankfully Ali has found her Mr Right with her Bachelorette winner Taite Radley. As for Grant, he’s back in the States and seems to be single and still ready to mingle.
Bill Goldsmith and Alex Nation
Despite a brief love triangle with Florence Moerenhout, Bill and Alex seemed to be the season two golden couple and even dated once the show had finished.
But things came crashing down when Alex revealed that Bill had told her he didn’t love her anymore via a text message and didn’t attend the reunion.
“We came back from paradise and it was good for three weeks and he told me that he didn’t love me and that I suppose, we couldn’t be together, and that he thinks it was the environment that made him fall in love with me,” she said.
It was fun while it lasted.
Richie Strahan and Cass Wood
Alex’s ex, meanwhile, had a short-lived fling with Nick Cummins’ stage five clinger Cass but it was hardly a Bachie love story for the ages.
In fact, Richie chose to depart Paradise without Cass leaving viewers shocked with the blonde beauty bailing shortly after, too.
Both are now in relationships and seem to be all loved-up so at least they found their happy ending eventually.
Alisha Aitken-Radburn and Jules Bourne
Yet another odd couple, Jules summed up her relationship with Jules perfectly when she said: “Compared to some people in Paradise, we look like Romeo and Juliet.”
But Alisha finally admitted she was over Jules leading her on after filming wrapped and shut things down during the reunion finale.
“I need some sort of line or some sort of closure. I was in love with you and I need something. Some sort of line. That’s going to let me get past this,” she stated.
Adding: “Sometimes you have to be like, OK, this is a cycle. It’s going to continue and actually I’m the only person who can change this. So, I’m going to change it and this is my night for closure.”
Boom!
Florence Moerenhout and Davey Lloyd
Alas Flavey couldn’t make it work and ended things during their final commitment ceremony – but he moved on quickly even bringing his new girlfriend to the reunion!
“That girl is my future and she will be the mother of the kids,” Davey told Flo on the TV special.
“I had a connection with Georgia when I was here [before the show]. I did have feelings for Georgia massively,” he added.
Well that relationship appears not to have worked either so that’s another break up to add to the pile.
Tenille Favios and Nathan Favro
After they pushed Ivan out of their love triangle, it seemed like Tenille and Nathan were head over heels for one another at that final commitment ceremony. But then the drama really kicked in.
Tenille dropped a bomb at the finale when she revealed that Nathan had been in contact with her, sending flirty messages and even invited her to Byron Bay but within 24 hours put her in the “friend-zone”.
“Like, I had the red flags. I kept telling myself and him, ‘I just don’t think you like me!’, but he just kept telling me everything that I wanted to hear,” she emotionally revealed.
Will this year’s couples have better luck?
