Finding love can be hard enough, let alone in a drama-fuelled Paradise.
After all, not everyone can be Alisha and Glenn.
Bachelor In Paradise couple Renee Barrett and Matt Whyatt faced some of the biggest backlash and trouble since coupling up on the show, yet they became fan favourites.
WATCH: Ciarran’s furious with Matt for not asking permission to take Renee on a date
After Matt, who appeared on Angie Kent’s season of The Bachelorette, arrived in Paradise late, he instantly set his sights on Renee and were inseparable on the show.
But are they still together months after filming?
Shortly after the finale aired Renee sadly announced she and Matt were no longer together.
“Matt and I remain friends (not all exes have to hate each other) and I wish him and his new partner nothing but happiness!” she wrote on Instagram.
Chatting with the So Dramatic! podcast, however, the 26-year-old revealed Matt had been the one to call it quits.
Promising to fly from the Gold Coast to Renee’s hometown of Darwin for New Year’s Eve, the BMX star bailed on their plans at the last minute.
“He was supposed to come to Darwin but he didn’t come,” Renee explained before adding the distance would have proved too much.
“It’s fine, I completely understand because he is definitely somebody that needs somebody with him at all times.”
None other than Married At First Sight’s Jessika Power recently confirmed the split, well before the finale had aired.
Talking to So Dramatic! podcast, Jessika revealed that she had dated Matt up until he left for Paradise.
“Yeah, he dumped me for Paradise, 100 per cent,” Jessika said about their relationship before revealing she had encouraged him to do the show.
But, the MAFS star says Matt didn’t want to because he “hated the drama”.
It wasn’t the biggest bombshell Jessika dropped during the chat, also revealing Matt and Renee were no longer together.
“Sorry to anyone that’s watching Bachelor in Paradise.”
“He’s dating Kim Hartnett from Love Island.”
Kim, a mother-of-one, appeared on season one of Love Island as an intruder before being booted after just nine days in the villa.
Meanwhile, Renee has been seen partying in Darwin with co-star and “best friend” Niranga Amarasinghe.
Sparks instantly flew between Renee and the professional BMX rider when he arrived in Paradise.
But their romance wasn’t without drama.
After becoming friends during filming for Angie’s season of The Bachelorette, Ciarran Stott took offense to Matt pursuing his ex, Renee, with his “permission”.
“Don’t be a snake. It’s not cool, bro. And that’s, literally, all I wanted to speak to you about it,” Ciarran snapped in a heated dinner party that quickly escalated.
Despite Ciarran’s issue, Matt refused to let him get in the way of his feelings for Renee.
“Ciarran’s a mate I met three months ago. I respect that. But it’s not a brother. It’s not a lifelong mate,” Matt said.
Bachelor in Paradise continues Tuesday, 7.30pm on Channel Ten.
