The Bachelor’s Laura says she wasn’t edited

"It was pretty much just me and that’s how I am."

When Laura Calleri arrived at the Bachelor mansion, we knew she was going to be one to watch.

The 25-year-old was almost instantly branded as “the Louis Vuitton girl”, after she shared her expensive designer tastes with Bachelor Locky Gilbert.

“When we’re together, how much will you spend on my birthday present?” she memorably asked after stepping out of the car.

To top that off, when asked what was the craziest gift she’d ever been given, self-described snob Laura revealed that it was a Louis Vuitton handbag.

But the Perth beauty says she wasn’t edited badly and made to look like someone she’s not by the show’s producers.

In an exclusive chat with Who following her elimination, Laura reveals what she thought about seeing herself on the small screen, why her attraction with Locky was purely physical, plus how much of a relief it was to get home after COVID-19 changed everything.

You were one of the biggest characters in the mansion. What did you think of the way you were portrayed or edited on the show?

I don’t really think I was edited to be honest – it was pretty much just me and that’s how I am. I understand that I’m not going to be everybody’s cup of tea, but that’s the great thing about shows like this.

It seems like all the big personalities were eliminated in one go in that episode!

That’s what I think as well!

Looking back, was there an attraction there with Locky?

I think obviously visually, there’s no denying that he’s a very attractive guy, but I think as we delved a little bit deeper and spoke about what we liked and a little bit about ourselves, I don’t really think we were quite aligned in that sense.

It was surreal watching how the coronavirus affected everything at the mansion. What was it like when you first heard about how serious the pandemic was?

So emotional. It was such a long day as well – obviously we found out about COVID and we were wondering what was going to happen and we were so unsure. It was really difficult and then having to come out and adjust to the new COVID normal was really tough.

It must’ve been a relief to get home.

Definitely. I mean it was quite scary when Osher said a few states were closing their borders, that was what was happening in Perth so it was quite tricky.

You were in the house for weeks and went on a few of the group dates, what was your Bachelor highlight?

I’d have to say the photo shoot probably, it was so much fun. The daddy situation with Steph was hilarious.

Which girls were you closest with in the mansion?

I’m still in touch with quite a few of the girls, but probably closest with Bella.

Bella had quite a bit of drama after Roxi found out she and Locky had kissed at the cocktail party. Was it hard to see her go through that as a friend?

It was pretty tricky because I was relatively neutral. Unless I missed something, I didn’t really think that Roxi had a huge go at her though, I think she was more upset herself that Locky had kissed Bella at the cocktail party. It is what it is, stressful situation and everyone has heightened emotions.

So do you reckon Bella has a good chance at winning? She is a frontrunner after all.

Totally. I’m backing her for the win to be honest, I’d be silly not to.

You’re not allowed phones or Internet in the mansion. What did you and the other girls get up to?

Probably tan, cook, chat, clean, just normal chores, normal house things! It was actually quite good having a full digital detox – you don’t have your phone, don’t have Internet or any of that stuff, but you get used to it after a while.

Have you caught up with any of the other Perth contestants now restrictions have eased?

I haven’t caught up with anyone, no. I’m hoping to eventually catch up with Clare, so that’ll be nice. I’m just trying to keep a low profile and process all of this.

You’ve also said that you’d be keen to do Bachelor in Paradise. Do you think it has more of an appeal than The Bachelor?

I think so, definitely. But then again it’s a whole different ball game – you’ve got a few more boys in the mix so I think it would be really interesting.

I’m down for it! We might not be going to Fiji though, it might be Rotto or the Whitsundays.
