He put a ring on it! Season eight Bachelor couple Locky Gilbert and Irena Srbinovska are engaged and they couldn’t be happier.
Speaking exclusively to WHO, Locky reveals he popped the question in Irena’s home state of Victoria during a hike at Mackenzie Falls in the Grampians.
“When we reached the base of the waterfall I set up the camera to capture some photos of us but instead I hit the record button,” the 2020 Bachelor says.
“Irena was standing in front of the waterfall for what she thought was a photo when I got down on my knee and asked her to marry me. It was absolutely perfect. Waterfalls and hiking are so us, so it was only fitting that I proposed at the waterfall.”
To say his wife-to-be was surprised is an understatement!
“Irena was in shock, she thought I was joking as I have done so many times before but then when she saw the ring she knew it was genuine this time,” Locky tells.
“She was blown away, couldn’t wipe the smile off her face.”

For her stunning engagement ring, Locky enlisted the help of Larsen Jewellery who also helped him create the custom-made purple ring he gifted her during the Bachelor finale.
“Irena always wanted a simple, classic ring as the Bachelor ring was so unique,” Locky says.
“I had such an amazing time with Larsen Jewellers designing Irena’s Bachelor ring that I went to them again to design the engagement ring. I knew what Irena wanted but I also wanted to make it a little more special.”
Whilst the engagement ring is a lot more minimal, it does have a special nod to the couple’s reality TV love story – inside the platinum band is a stone that matches her Bachelor ring.
Locky says wedding planning is already in motion as he and Irena aren’t keen for a long engagement and want to start growing their family soon.
“As Irena is from the East Coast and I am from the West, we hope to have two big engagement parties first with all our family and friends then hopefully a more intimate getaway wedding,” the adventure travel guide says, though he admits the destination isn’t sorted just yet.
“We will definitely be incorporating Irena’s Macedonian and Croatian traditions into the engagement and wedding as I have loved experiencing all the traditions and customs,” Locky adds.
Having starred on both Survivor and The Bachelor, fans can expect to see plenty of Locky and Irena’s reality TV friends on their big day.
“They are all like family to us, they have helped the both of us so much over the years and have gone through the highs and lows with us for our respective shows,” Locky says.
“The Bachelor girls were there with us on the very first night Irena and I met so it’s nice to share this with them now.”
Wedding plans may be underway but Locky says he and Irena don’t have a strict timeline in place when it comes to expanding their family.
“We would like to finish our home renovations first, then maybe a fur baby but if a baby happens before the wedding we won’t be disappointed either way.”
