From Fourth Wing to People We Meet On Vacation, this year has been a *major* win for some of those of us begging for a book-to-screen adaptation of our favourite reads and in exciting news, a new BookTok favourite will soon be transformed into a TV series.
After making waves on TikTok for its layered storytelling and steamy romances, Ana Huang’s Twisted book series is the latest to receive a screen adaptation, with Variety reporting that the first novel, Twisted Love, and its three sequels are currently in development with Netflix.
What is Twisted Love about?
In case you somehow missed the BookTok hype, Twisted Love follows Ava Chen, a young photographer, and Alex Volkov, her brother’s best friend, as they navigate a complex and passionate relationship.
Ava’s brother, Josh, leaves for Central America, entrusting Alex with her care – particularly from her problematic ex-boyfriend. Despite reluctantly hanging out together, Ava and Alex slowly begin to set aside their differences (did someone say slow burn?)
While they may appear to be polar opposites on paper, Ava is quickly drawn to Alex’s mysterious nature, while Alex struggles with his emotions due to past traumas. As Ava confronts her past, Alex helps her heal and seek justice.
Will there be a Twisted Love movie?
While we don’t know how long the series will be, Variety has reported that Twisted Love will be spread across a TV series – meaning BookTok lovers will be able to watch the story unfold over multiple episodes.
Although production is still in its early stages, it’s still unknown as to whether the franchise’s sequels, Twisted Games, Twisted Hate, and Twisted Lies, will each be making their screen debut, however, it has been confirmed that Netflix has since acquired the rights to all four books.
Who is the cast of Twisted Love?
Although Ana has confirmed that the cast is still yet to be decided, that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating over who could soon be embodying Ava and Alex.
While there may be a handful of theories making the rounds on social media, Singaporean actress Eleanor Lee and After star Hero Fiennes Tiffin have emerged as the most popular choices for a Twisted Love fan cast.

Although the series has yet to receive a definite release date, Twisted Love will most likely be available to stream on Netflix.
