We’ve been given our very first look at season two of Bridgerton, Netflix’s raunchy period drama that captured our hearts at the very beginning of 2021.

After voraciously consuming the first season, and desperately hoping for main characters Daphne Bridgerton and the Duke of Hastings to fall in love, audiences are more than ready for the arrival of season two.

The second season will shift focus from Daphne to her eldest brother, Lord Anthony Bridgetron, and his quest to find a wife among the eligible women of London.

Netflix has teased the season with a clip of Lord Anthony, played by Jonathan Bailey, butting heads with his presumed new love interest, Kate Sharma, played by Sex Education’s Simone Ashley.

The end of season one saw the happily-married Duke of Hastings and Daphne hoping that Anthony would be open to finding a wife he loved, instead of marrying out of necessity.

Anthony, who had recently been heartbroken by opera singer Siena Rosso, seemed to have forgone a belief in true love.

However, we’re guessing Kate might be there to change his mind.

Fans were treated to their heated exchange, where Kate overhears Lord Anthony’s list of requirements in a woman and seems to leave in disgust.

The ensuing garden chat sees her say “I find your opinion of yourself entirely too high”, followed by a satisfying walk-out, that leaves Lord Anthony looking stunned.

Despite the animosity, it seems the Mr Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett-type chemistry is already crackling away.

With the focus of the series switching to Anthony, Daphne will take on a smaller role, as announced alongside the departure of the Duke of Hastings, which was confirmed on the Bridgerton Instagram page in April this year.

“While all eyes turn to Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s quest to find a Viscountess, we bid adieu to Regé-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings,” the statement, written in the tone of the show’s iconic gossip columnist, Lady Whistledown, said.

“We’ll miss Simon’s presence onscreen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family.”

Daphne, played by Phoebe Dyenvor, will return.

“Daphne will remain a devoted wife and sister, helping her brother navigate the upcoming social season and what it has to offer – more intrigue and romance than my readers may be able to bear,” the statement concluded.

While fans were sad to hear of the departure of the Duke, this clip has given us plenty to look forward to!
