It’s been two years since her tumultuous Bachelor experience, but former contestant Brooke Blurton has made a cheeky swipe at her reality TV ex Nick Cummins in a post praising SAS Australia star and AFLW player, Sabrina Frederick.

Taking to Instagram, Brooke shared two photos of herself and Sabrina dressed to the nines and reflected on their many years of friendship.

“Appreciation post to this strong, powerful, incredibly talented woman. @sabzizzle and I have being friends since she was literally 13, she was playing in an under 16’s comp and was the youngest but the fastest, strongest and the most talented on and off the field,” she wrote.

“From that moment, we’ve played footy together all our lives. For different teams and then she came over to my team and we became inseparable on the field but also we were friends off. I’ve then watched her career excel in football and grow into this incredible woman who played soccer and footy back to back each season to playing in state games nationally, getting drafted to Brissy and now playing for Richmond and then I thought wow I’m so proud of this woman! But farrrrr out, you just exceed all limitations.”

But perhaps the best bit of her post was when she thanked Sabrina for punching Nick ‘Honey Badger’ Cummins during her time on SAS Australia during an intense boxing challenge.

“I thought I was proud of you for giving the honey Badger a good 👊🏽 for me 😜 but you beyond make me proud of the intelligent strong woman you are. Man oh man am I so happy to call you one of my longest friends and I know @lilii.peta is beyond proud to be able to call you her wife soon. I love both of you equally as much but my god, keep killing it my queen. You do us all proud!”

Sabrina responded to Brooke’s heartfelt post with her sweet reply: “You make me equally proud. Love you B.” But other fans and followers couldn’t help but laugh at the cheeky dig at the former Bachelor.

“Oh so that’s why she chose honey badger! Even better! What a legend!” one exclaimed.

SAS Australia fans also took to the comments section to share their support for Sabrina on the show, where she has become a one to watch.

In the premiere episode of SAS Australiaviewers were shocked when AFLW player Sabrina chose to take on rugby player Nick Cummins for a one-on-one boxing fight.

Despite choosing the Honey Badger as her opponent herself, some fans were dismayed when Sabrina copped some intense punches and questions regarding violence against women arose.

Sabrina addressed the controversy herself on Instagram writing: “I want to make something very clear so that no one can twist the truth of what happened in the fighting scene. I went on @sasaust7 to challenge myself; push me to my absolute limits both physically and mentally.”

“My whole life I have been fighting for equality. For people to treat all as equal, regardless of gender or race and that task was an opportunity for exactly that. I volunteered and picked @nickbadger for two reasons. 1) I wanted to select the person I thought was the biggest challenge and 2) I knew our respect was mutual and he would give me a fair fight regardless of my gender, and I am truly grateful for him and that experience.”

She added: “Yes, I was scared but that’s the whole point of SAS not letting the fear consume you, instead harnessing it to empower you. In battle, the enemy doesn’t care about your gender or size, and we had to think like soldiers to get through each task.”

During the 2018 season, Brooke opted to leave the show and previously spoke to Who that her decision was hers alone.

“I had my date with Nick, I slept on it, and then the Rose Ceremony was the next day,” she explained in 2019.

“I really do analyse things and in a way, you have to be selfish. I won’t go into too much, but I would say the decision to leave was definitely mine. I can’t say that they didn’t try persuade me to stay.”

The social worker then joined the cast of Bachelor in Paradise for its second season where she had a brief fling with Bachelor winner Alex Nation.

Though she wouldn’t advise women to apply for The Bachelor, Brooke has confessed she wouldn’t be opposed to being the Bachelorette if the position was offered to her.

“I don’t know, I’d be very open to it,” she mused on The Babble podcast with Matty J and Ruby Teys in September.

“I’m a little bit different in the sense that I date both sexes and whether Channel Ten and Warner Brothers would be up to a sort-of bi Bachelorette, I don’t know what they would that look like or if Australia would be ready for that.

“My followers have definitely been very vocal about their needs – they want a person of colour or a woman of colour to be in those positions.”
