Matty ‘J’ Johnson and Laura Byrne love to share adorable family photos on social media, but after the 2017 Bachelor uploaded a cute beach snap, one reality TV contestant couldn’t resist making a cheeky comment.
In Matty’s photo uploaded to Instagram on Monday night, Matty, Laura and their daughter Marlie-Mae posed in their togs at North Bondi Beach – and Matty’s huge grin says it all.
“Not sure if you can tell but I was a little excited to be down the beach with the girls today…” he captioned the photo.
But it was former Married At First Sight groom and new dad Cam Merchant who had the best comment as he drew attention to Matty’s ripped physique.
“And the beach was excited to have your magnificent rig visiting Matthew,” he commented.
The former Bachelor jokingly replied: “I thought the same thing mate!”
Cam wasn’t the only one who couldn’t look away from Matty’s muscles.
“You look amazing,” remarked one fan.
“Geez talk about redefining the dad bod,” another said.
One even joked: “Hey Matt it’s a shame to see the bod drop off since the new bub. Your lack of definition in the stomach region is disturbing. Good job fella.”
Speaking about his body to BodyandSoul in 2018, the reality star admitted: “The thing I admire about myself the most is the fact that I’ve been given a body that loves to exercise.”
“As a kid I’d spend all my time with a football, on my bike or in the surf. I can’t image living a life where I’m not exercising regularly so I’m thankful that I’ve been given a body that’s capable of so many things.”
Laura and Matt met and fell in love whilst filming the fifth season of The Bachelor Australia.
Since then they’ve not only welcomed Marlie-Mae and are due to expect another baby this year, but they’ve also become engaged.
In December, Laura shared some sweet throwback photos from her time on the hit reality TV show, including some from the period when she and Matty were contractually obliged to hide their relationship ahead of the season airing.
The soon-to-be mum-of-two revealed that it was during this time that they were able to get to know each other better away from the cameras.
“We stayed in a tiny little cabin in the middle of nowhere, cooked lots of food, talked about all the life stuff we weren’t able to on the show…and drank several bottles of wine.”
The couple’s second child is due in February and though they have chosen to not find out the sex, many are convinced that it will be a baby boy.
“I’m getting very strong boy vibes, which means absolutely nothing because I also got very strong boy vibes when I had Marlie. So… It’s probably a girl,” Laura admitted in an Instagram Q&A.
We’ll just have to wait and see!
