It has been 15 years since the original Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, first premiered on our TV screens but it only took us seconds to fall in love with the ‘fab five’.
Now, two of our favourites, fashion guru, Carson Kressley and design whiz, Thom Filicia are teaming up in a new show, Get a Room with Carson & Thom.
The series will follow the dynamic duo as they battle the bland interiors of American homes. With a new-found passion for interior design, Kressley has turned to interior designer Filicia to take him under his wing and teach him the design business as they transform homes across the country.
“There are a lot of laughs,” he tells WHO. “I’m the bumbling assistant sometimes.”
Each episode will see Kressley and Filicia take on two clients and completely transform their space. Some houses will have huge designer budgets while others will involve a lot more DIY, but with these two on board, every room is sure to dazzle.
However, Kressley admits that the pair did but heads when it came to their decisions.
“We did occasionally, then I just did what I wanted and hope for the best,” he laughs. “But usually it worked out.”
Of course, Kressley was known for his fashion advice on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy but he is quick to admit that when it comes to designing your home, it’s not that different from fashion.
“You can have a lot of fun with accessories and change them up a lot, they don’t have to be expensive,” he says of home design. “House plants and throws are a good option. It’s like taking a little black dress and adding a really cool statement necklace.
“That’s how I envision people should be decorating their houses as well.”
