Ash Barty has given a candid interview with the Herald Sun following news she and husband Garry Kissick were expecting their second child.
The 28-year-old Aussie tennis champion, who already has an 18-month-old son Hayden, told the publication that she was gearing up to deal with “chaos” as the household expands to life with both a toddler and newborn.
“It’s been probably the best part of my life, being able to share this next chapter with my husband Garry, and we have no idea what we’re doing but he’s alive and he’s happy,” she explained, before admitting she was “terrified for what is going to come next but we’ll figure it out, I’m sure.”
“As an athlete I used to be the most meticulous, organised person and now it’s absolute carnage,” Ash added of the “chaos” she was expecting.
Her latest comments come a month after Ash and her husband announced they were expecting their second child.
Sharing the exciting news to Instagram on Christmas day, the couple shared a photo of their one-year-old son Hayden in front of their family Christmas tree wearing a t-shirt that read, ‘I’m going to be a big brother.’
“Merry Christmas from our growing family to yours!” the couple captioned the announcement, with friends and fans quickly taking to the comments to congratulate them.

News of the couple’s growing family comes just over one year after Ash and Gary shared they had welcomed their first child, Hayden.
“Our beautiful boy,” Ash captioned the picture. “Welcome to the world, Hayden!”
Ash announced she was expecting her first child in January 2023, and she took her Instagram account to share the exciting announcement.
“2023 set to be the best year yet,” she wrote alongside a photo of the couple’s dog, Origi and a pair of baby shoes. “We are so excited for our new adventure 👶🏼💫”

Reflecting on her early experience of motherhood, Ash told Sunrise February 2024, “It’s everything that I’ve ever wanted to do. I think the challenges that you have each and every day are different but the rewards and the fun so outweigh it. It’s much better than anything else I’ve ever done.”
“When [Hayden] wakes up from a sleep or a nap, the smile as soon as he wakes up – and starting to grab and want to be held, that’s incredible. That’s the best thing ever.”
