Despite his romance making waves on the internet, fans of the Jane the Virgin heartthrob are only just getting to know more about the actor’s life away from the camera, with many curious to learn about Justin’s life with his now-wife Emily in the decade following his proposal.
How did Justin and Emily Baldoni meet?
As with all good romance novels, Justin and Emily Baldoni reportedly met by chance in 2011 after crossing paths at a mutual friend’s birthday party.
While little is known about their early relationship, the couple’s romance continued to blossom, with Justin popping the question on April 13, 2013, at Los Angeles’ Blu Jam Cafe – the same location as their first date.
Sharing their entire proposal to YouTube, Justin wrote, “I told her I was running late, had the restaurant opened just for her, and set up hidden cameras all around her. When she sat down at the table, there was a TV in front of her to take her on a journey that would lead to the proposal of a lifetime.”
Complete with choreographed flash mobs, lip-synced musical numbers, and multiple humourous and heartfelt sketches, Emily told Entertainment Tonight, “I just kept telling myself, ‘This is not a proposal! This is not a proposal! It’s something else.’ He’s the master of surprises.”
Now, 11 years later, the couple’s romance is still going strong, with Justin taking to social media to share a heartwarming tribute for Emily’s 40th birthday.
“I am in awe of this woman. Her strength. Her bravery. Her groundedness. Her magic. Her love… She is a fountain, constantly emptying herself so she can keep giving. It’s an honour to witness.”
Does Justin Baldoni have children?
Justin Baldoni shares two children, nine-year-old daughter Maiya and seven-year-old son Maxwell, with his wife Emily.
Similarly to their engagement announcement, the couple shared the exciting news that they were expecting their first child in a 10-minute YouTube video, with the clip having amassed over three million views since early 2015.
In June of that year, the couple took to social media to welcome their daughter Maiya, with Justin writing, “Saturday, June 27th at 11:29 am, our lives changed forever… Welcome to the world Maiya Grace Baldoni. I know with all my heart that you are going to change it.”
Reflecting on his daughter’s birth a few weeks later, Justin added, “I may have thought I loved my wife before but I’m not exaggerating when I say I absolutely worship her now… Emily chose to make Maiya’s birth a ceremony of love, and all I could do was say thank you.”
Shortly after Maiya’s second birthday, the couple welcomed their son, Maxwell Roland-Samuel Baldoni, on October 18, 2017.
Celebrating his first birthday, Emily penned to social media,” My son… You’ve made my heart expand to the point where it can caress all the stars and the planets in one embrace.”
Since welcoming their two children, Justin and Emily have continued to share regular glimpses into their family life on social media, with both parents openly discussing the trials and tribulations of parenthood.
Reflecting on his approach as a father, Justin told The Bump, “At the end of the day, my goal is to raise good humans.”
“Every night we say mantras like, ‘I’m brave, I’m strong and powerful.’ When it comes to [Maiya], I always lead with more masculine words – ‘I’m a leader, I’m resilient’…. and for my son, I’m focusing on the qualities the world tells him it’s not okay to have: empathy, compassion, sensitivity,”
