While it may be over six years since they tied the knot on Married at First Sight Australia, Season 6 couple Martha Kalifatidis and Michael Brunelli have shared a glimpse into the plans for their upcoming real-life wedding.
Speaking alongside Martha’s mother Mary on their series The Morning Roast, the fan-favourite couple shared that they may be tying the knot sooner than expected!
Questioning whether the pair should get married before the end of 2024, Martha shared, “I feel I want to have a shotgun wedding, like get married in November. I just want to get it done,” she shared, adding that she would love to celebrate the couple’s wedding at home.
“I’m down for the quickest, easiest thing,” Michael quipped, with Martha suggesting that the pair plan a casual, lunchtime reception.
The couple, who have been engaged since December 2021, previously offered fans an insight into their future wedding plans in 2023, telling 9Now that while they would love a destination wedding in Greece, the pair are more than likely to celebrate their ceremony in Australia.
“I think for our grandparents to be able to come is one of the most important things for us. As much as I want to do it overseas, they wouldn’t be able to come and it wouldn’t feel whole,” Michael shared.
Martha and Michael also shared that while their romance may take centre stage on their big day, their priority is having their one-year-old son Lucius involved in the ceremony.
“The only thing for me is that I want Lucius to be involved, and if that means him walking down the aisle with the rings, then that’s what we’ll wait for,” said Michael.
While the couple previously shared that they were planning to wait to have another child before they tied the knot, Martha joked in her The Morning Roast segment that she would like to celebrate the couple’s wedding before going through another pregnancy, with her mother joking that that was her impetus to send Michael a bikini photo of Martha.
“That’s why I sent him the photo. We keep him,” Mary joked, with Michael adding, “People think you’re very weird for sending me that photo… What mother-in-law in the history of Earth has sent their son-in-law an old bikini photo of their daughter?!”
Joking about the exchange, Michael continued, “It was 11:00 pm. I didn’t know what was going on, then it was Mary sending it. I didn’t even reply as I didn’t know what to say!”
The trio also joked about their first on-screen wedding on Married at First Sight, Martha and Mary poked fun at Michael’s groom attire, with Mary revealing, “You know what was funny, in the limousine, one thing we were saying was, ‘I hope he doesn’t do the blue suit with the brown shoe.’ As soon as we walked in I go, ‘We should turn back.'”
