Dancing with the Stars judge Sharna Burgess is a well-known face on both Australian and American versions of the beloved celebrity dancing show.
But did you know the girl from Wagga Wagga is engaged to Beverly Hills 90210 star Brian Austin Green?
Burgess, 39, has been a regular on Australia’s DWTS since 2019 when she joined luminaries such as Craig Revel Horwood, Mark Wilson and Helen Richey to dissect each performer’s attempts at dazzling on the dancefloor.
Prior to that, she starred in Burn the Floor, the UK version of Strictly Ballroom, the US and Australian versions of So You Think You Can Dance, and the American version of DWTS, where, as a professional dance partner, she paired up with celebs including singer Nick Carter, talk show host Tavis Smiley, radio star Bobby Bones and actor Jesse Metcalfe.
But that’s not how she met Brian Austin Green – by the time they danced together on Season 30 of the US DWTS, they were already a couple.
Who has Sharna Burgess dated?
Burgess was in a five-year relationship with fellow dancer Paul Kirkland from 2010 to 2015.
The pair first met in London as choreographers for the movie Street Dance 2, where she choreographed the Latin numbers and he choreographed the hip-hop moves.
‘’The movie was incredibly cheesy, but the dancing came out amazing,’’ she once said.
After splitting from Kirkland, Burgess admitted she found the dating game to be an unsatisfying experience, even contemplating going on the Australian version of The Bachelorette in the hope of finding new love.
How did Sharna Burgess meet Brian Austin Green?
A mutual business manager introduced Burgess and Green to each other, sensing they might be a good match.
Their first date was at a coffee shop – and sparks flew, but they took it slowly, with Burgess once revealing they didn’t kiss until their fifth or sixth date.
Burgess said she and Green had taken time to ‘’get to know each other for who we are on the inside’’ before going public, which they did with an Instagram reveal in January 2021.
By that point, the couple had ‘’really built something beautiful,’’ Burgess later told Entertainment Tonight.
At first, Green was reluctant to fall too fast. He was just coming off a tumultuous 10-year marriage to actress Megan Fox, with whom he shared three children, and wasn’t looking for anything too serious.
But as he later told People, the chemistry – and the close bond, forged during the COVID pandemic – was undeniable.
‘’On our first date, we just completely lost track of time,’’ Green revealed. ‘’And the same thing happened the next time. It became something noticeably different from anything I’d experienced before.’’
The pair went on to compete together in Season 30 of DWTS in the US to raise money for charity. Soon after they were eliminated, the couple discovered they were expecting.

Burgess gave birth to their baby boy, Zane Walker Green, on June 28, 2022.
Just over a year later, the pair became engaged, with Green popping the question on his 50th birthday in July 2023.
They kept the news secret for two months, eventually revealing they were engaged during a chat on the iHeartRadio podcast Oldish.
How did Brian Austin Green propose to Sharna Burgess?
The couple were enjoying Green’s birthday party when he told Burgess he had something he wanted to show her upstairs.
Surrounded by his children, he handed her a red Cartier box with an engagement ring inside, asking her: ‘’Will you spend the rest of your life with us?’’
Burgess later told People it was the ‘’most perfect, beautiful moment’’, while Green said the engagement was the start of the ‘’second half’’ of his life.
What has Brian Austin Green said about Sharna Burgess?
On an Instagram Live session not long after going public with their relationship in 2021, Green called Burgess an ‘’amazing, considerate, loving, kind person’’.
‘’Sharna’s been amazing in my life,’’ he said. ‘’She’s been so invaluable, she really has. What a great way to start 2021 – to find an amazing person and go into it with a positive feeling and outlook and really a sense of, ‘This could be the year that starts something. This could be the start of something amazing’.’’
Fast-forward three years, and that ‘’something amazing’’ is still unfolding for the pair.
Are Sharna Burgess and Brian Austin Green married?
While there’s no word yet on when their wedding will take place, there’s no doubt it will involve their extended, blended family.
Apart from Zane, their son together, Green has three children with Megan Fox and one child with former partner Vanessa Marcil, ranging in ages from 2 to 22.
Green said it had been important for his children to be present when he proposed to Burgess.
‘’I had this idea in my head that I wanted the kids to be part of it, because they’re a part of everything,’’ Green said.
