Theo James is the man of the moment in 2024. Off the back of his success playing Cameron in The White Lotus last year, the actor is returning in another sure-fire hit on Netflix: The Gentlemen.
With the 39-year-old star currently out and about on red carpets, there’s one person by his side through it all: his incredible wife, Ruth Kearney.
Theo and Ruth tied the knot in 2018, before welcoming a daughter in August 2021 and a son in September 2023 – according to People Magazine. They’ve kept their relationship relatively private over the years – though, much to the delight of fans, they have begun attending red-carpet events together in recent times.

Who is Ruth Kearney?
Ruth is an Irish actress, known for starring in Primeval, The Following, and Flaked. The actress also starred alongside her husband as one of his love interests in Sanditon.
And it has to be said – Ruth also has an enviously cool wardrobe, sharing her stylish ensembles and her escapades around the globe on her Instagram account.
When did Theo James and Ruth Kearney meet?
The couple have been in a relationship since 2009, after meeting at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
Of their theatre school meeting, Theo joked that they locked eyes while they were “huddled in leotards pretending to be mice” in an interview with The Evening Standard.
The couple shared an instant attraction, with Theo telling the publication that “she’s very sanguine, thoughtful and funny. It made sense pretty early on.”

The happy couple wed at the Islington Town Hall on August 25, 2018, in a private ceremony. Given their casual approach to fame, the couple have never shared photos from their nuptials.
“I’m not in this industry to become famous, I don’t go for jobs because they will make me well known, it’s so, hopefully, they will lead to more interesting roles,” Ruth previously told The Irish Mirror.
“It’s interesting being together this long because we have really navigated through the very beginnings of a career to lots of different percolations of it. That can be really hard at times, but also that [brings] certain strengths [to] a relationship which helps us being together long term,” he told The Evening Standard.

Theo and Ruth share two children together.
“It’s discombobulating at first,” Theo told InStyle after welcoming his daughter. “Especially with your first child because your whole life changes, but ultimately it makes you — definitely for me, at least — a much more solid person.”
In an interview with KTLA5 at the 2024 Emmys, Theo briefly touched on becoming a father of two.
“We have a 4-month-old. We’re in the thick of it,” Theo told the publication on the red carpet, confirming the arrival of his baby boy for the first time. “We have a daughter and then a 4-month-old son.”
As Theo’s career continues to go from strength to strength this year, Ruth has shown her support as she attends more events alongside her husband of five years.
The couple stepped out together for the 2024 Emmy Awards, where Theo was nominated as part of the cast of The White Lotus.
Ruth shared a sweet Polaroid snap from the event on her Instagram, captioning the post “La Dolce Vita” (which means, the sweet life).
