Ronan Keating is heading back on our screens as the captain on a new reality TV show, in the form of a singing competition, titled All Together now.
The show will showcase more than 100 contestants who will be in it to take home $100,000 of prize money.
“[It’s] family entertainment show packed full of great music with 100 people singing and dancing along to some amazing live performances – it sounds epic and I want to be part of it!” Ronan said in a statement.
So what exactly is the role of a Captain? “As any great Captain would, I’ll be there to support, encourage, motivate, advise, laugh and cry along as the 100 see if they have what it takes to come out on top,” says Ronan.
How will it work? Well viewers will feast their eyes (and judgemental ears) on the voices which will come out during each heat. Each act wil try to outscore their competitors in order to earn a seat on the top two podium.
The first performer sets the standard and the score to beat, but whenever a performer manages to scores high enough for a podium place, the act insecond place is given the boot.
Once all acts have belted out their songs, the two acts with the highest scores have to sing off against one another.
THE SING OFF
At this stage, the scores are reset to zero and the first and second placed acts sing a brand new song. The act with the highest score is granted a place in the Grand Final.
Before filming commences, all performers choose their song. The 100 learn the words before the show, even thought they don’t know know who is going to come out and perform.
The judges cannot vote for the first 30 seconds of the song. The 100 can only join in for the final minute as signified by a lighting change.
WILDCARD
In a twist that will ruffle some feathers, one of the acts that was not successful in the Heats will be chosen as a wildcard entry into the Grand Final.
After every heat, the 100 vote for the performer they would love to see again. The act with the highest votes will join the heat winners in the Grand Final line-up.
